What the **** is people's problem? You wanna know what happened to me in WoW when I said I was a girl? This is almost verbatim what was said to me IMMEDIATELY after that announcement:
Guy 1: HAHA YOU'RE A ****
Guy 2: You're lying, girls don't play WoW
Guy 3: You think you get special privileges?
Guy 4: You're just an attention ***** and want 40-year-old men to touch your butt.
I play pokemon on and off, and today I was checking this topic that had regional winners of a tournament posted. A girl won the Atlanta regional. The VERY FIRST comment after that was "WTF a girl won a pokemon tournament"
The worst part is that nobody seems to take me seriously. I get treated like I'm just there to pick up "geek guys lol" or that I'm just a casual gamer and I can't PVP just as well as the guys. Hell there's this one guild that won't even let girls join because apparently they make "drama".
Seriously, the whole damn internet is misogynistic and I am sick of it.

Ok, joking aside... I know what you mean, lots of people just can't seem to grasp the idea that girl/woman gamers exist and can be just as good as boys/men. Unfortunatly, a good deal of the female chars are actually men, so the lines tend to get a bit more blurry...
Sounds like you just ran into some bad bunches of people in WoW though, a good deal amount of people accept the fact that girls play games, and they can kick *** at it. You're always going to run into those odd-balls who think that they are better then everyone.

Also, Pikko, I think that may be one of the reasons she posted this. Because of the mentality of people she has met she ISN'T having fun playing the game. Just a guess.

There is always that 12 year old kid who is willing to buy anything for someone who he thinks is female, and there are always some women who are more then willing to accept any offering they get.

Thats very true... lots of people will do anything for a female char, whether or not they are female or not. It is almost like playing "easy mode" in terms of items and such. That isn't to say they are the majority, but there are enough of them...

hey its true that alot of guys will be annoying wanna be's who think they are king sh*t, i know this from first hand exp most of my freinds play WoW and most of the time be smarts ***'s about swg and so on, but belive me half of them a little nerds who think they are super heros and wanna show off yet they pay alot of their mummys money on a crap game liek alot of my freinds.

There are some women I play video games with on MMOs. The ones that I bother talking to are really quite good at the games and some could probably rock my **** in PVP.

I have always thought of the internet as androgynous, since we cannot really see each other unless we post a picture of ourselves. I mean who knows really if that said guild that won't let girls in it, because they make "drama", really are guys, they could in fact be androgynous Japanese robots.
In order to prove that you really are a "girl", and not a dude or an androgynous Japanese robot, please post nude photos of oneself playing pokemon, or a banjo, while riding backwards on a burro.
