I love spoiling my friends kids but I'm so jealous of the cool toys they have out for kids now. I remember wearing actual dresses for dress up not these costume thin easily torn up princess things you can buy at Wal-Mart. I remember making cakes out of mud, now kids have these easy bake ovens that bake better than my real oven! We used to use leaves from the neighborhood climbing tree as "fake money" now kids have their own credit cards that are real! Tree houses used to be in TREES now they are built on stilts, side walk chalk? Try side walk spin art chalk! Dive toys was quarters out of dads pocket, now that have ships you can wind up and that float out, sink while releasing pirate treasure.
Hmm...well there's something to be said for our old outdated playthings. They helped cultivate our imagination, and encouraged us to invent and innovate. And for me, most of the fun was in creating or exploring. If I had everything pre-made for me, it would take a lot of the spontaneity out of it.
Though that's not to say that some of the new stuff isn't pretty darn cool, heh.
