Haha. When I was a kid a submarine was a ziploc bag with enough air for 2 or 3 gasps...

Ziploc scuba diving FTW

I love spoiling my friends kids but I'm so jealous of the cool toys they have out for kids now. I remember wearing actual dresses for dress up not these costume thin easily torn up princess things you can buy at Wal-Mart. I remember making cakes out of mud, now kids have these easy bake ovens that bake better than my real oven! We used to use leaves from the neighborhood climbing tree as "fake money" now kids have their own credit cards that are real! Tree houses used to be in TREES now they are built on stilts, side walk chalk? Try side walk spin art chalk! Dive toys was quarters out of dads pocket, now that have ships you can wind up and that float out, sink while releasing pirate treasure.

Hmm...well there's something to be said for our old outdated playthings. They helped cultivate our imagination, and encouraged us to invent and innovate. And for me, most of the fun was in creating or exploring. If I had everything pre-made for me, it would take a lot of the spontaneity out of it.

Though that's not to say that some of the new stuff isn't pretty darn cool, heh.

Very true. I remember summer block water parties where the parents would cook out and there was water melon galore with huge block wide water fights with ballons, buckets and water hoses. So much fun frying ants with magnifying glasses and unrolling a roll of snap gun paper and lighting it with the magnifying glass and listening to it explode. Digging holes in the yard looking for buried treasure and not understanding why mom would go balistic when she found us digging these holes. Talking my younger brother into playing dress up with us. Or finding dad's duct tape and having tape wars.

Hah! Yeah we could pretty much turn anything into a weapon.

Just give me a cardboard tube, and I'd be set for days. I was lethal with those cardboard tubes.

I am by no means from the block party era, but when we were little Lego's were our friends. We used to make guns out of them and run around being space cowboys and whatnot. Lego's ruled my life. And Ninja Turtles. Ninja Turtles kick ***.

My Favorite toy when I was younger had to be my Big Wheel, I had the Knight Rider one, One Giant tire in the front with peddles and two small ones in the back, and some of them where made with hand breaks, You peddle as fast as you can the pull the handle to slide. Now they have big wheels with motors so the kids don’t have to peddle.

Well, of course, we had it tough. We used to 'ave to get up out of shoebox at twelve o'clock at night and lick road clean wit' tongue. We had two bits of cold gravel, worked twenty-four hours a day at mill for sixpence every four years, and when we got home our Dad would slice us in two wit' bread knife.

Yeah, I always had plenty of fun with just a glove and some noodles inside it.

Good times, good times...

Only 24. Ok, the easy bake oven was a bad comparison. I was from the He-Man era but prior Teen-Age Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Ah, ok. I was starting to think from your OP that maybe you were from the black and white TV Era like Nobby...
