for you parents with little kids, I thought you would both get a chuckle at this since its not YOUR kid, but also shake your head and wonder what the guy was thinking.

Today my sons school had a special event, where a guy from an animal refuge brought a bunch of animals for the preschoolers to see and touch and learn about. It was really a great time, and the kids loved it. However, the guy in charge had very bad timing on a story and scared the sh[Aliceblue][/Aliceblue]it out of my son. We've been able to laugh about it afterwards, but during the time I felt so bad for him.

One of the snakes brought out was a boa constrictor. Xavier looooves snakes, and when asked if anyone would like to come up and touch it to prove it wasnt slimey, he jumped at the chance. He went up to the front of the room and patiently waited while the guy explained a few more things to the kids. Unfortunately, one of the things he decided to explain right before my son had the snake thrust on him was to never put a snake around your neck. He went on to tell a story of how just the other day, someone put a snake around their neck and the snake thought his ear was a mouse and tried to eat it. Not fully explaining it wasnt this particular snake, Xavier froze, and slowly turned to look at this snake mere inches from his head... and ears. He started shaking as the guy brought the snake up to him, but held very still...

Until the snake was taken away from him and he bolted to me, shaking and crying. Poor kid, but I was proud he was such a trooper. The guy realized his mistake when he saw my sons reaction, and came over and quietly apologized to my son and me. He explained it wasnt the same snake and that this one would never hurt anyone. Then he let my son hold the snake for awhile, until he was finally ok.

Baaaaaaad timing on stories.

I hate when that kind of thing happens. I feel bad for getting a chuckle out of that, but I think we've all been there in some way shape or form....lol

it's ok. It's my kid and I still chuckle over it after the fact. I wish I had brought a camera to get a snapshot of his face during the event. It would have been priceless, and great blackmail for when he got older

Haha now your kid is terrified of snakes! Maybe he will be the next Indiana Jones now:

Or better...when he's about to get married...bring that out for the reception! Yeah, shame you didn't have a camera. Sad thing is, it'd only end up as someones avatar on the web anyway, lol!

Nah, the kid still loves snakes. He was even trying to convince me after he calmed down to get one. While I wouldnt mind, having had boas as pets as a child, the Mr of the house would flip. Hes not fond of slithering animals that could potentially escape their aquariums
