Well if he didn't go, someone else might end up with Zarcowee's pee pee and then he couldn't take it out of a desk drawer to impress people.

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Doubt it. My family alone would tip the scales, but if that makes you feel like you have the Inside Scoop on the Immigrant Experience, by all means. Sure. My father was a redhead, so I know what it's like to be Irish. I feel ya.

I would only care if Bush gets killed b/c most of my family lives in the DC suburbs. Of course the visit itself won't amount to jack, or at least not more so than if done via teleconference, as originally planned.

My whole irritation with it is that it's an empty move with no real impact, made to look as if he's actually doing something when all he wants to do is stall. If anything, it smacks of a surprise visit to your dorm room by your mother, and frankly, the image of us as foster parents probably isn't the smart thing to keep reinforcing.

Personally, I prefer it when Bush is making empty gestures or doing nothing to when he's actually trying to "accomplish" something.

The guy just does more harm than good whenever he takes action. Better to have him doing inconsequential PR stuff in some other country than being here and fu[Aqua][/Aqua]cking things up here, if you ask me.

I live in California. In the ag capital of the world. I went a school in Madera. Out of a high school of 4000, 75% were bilingual. Trust me, I know way more hispanics than you do.

"You" and "we"? The more "you" separate "you"rselves, the harder it becomes to attract legitimacy to "you"r cries.

Go for it.

You may be right. I grew up in Peru, which is 99.9% Hispanic, and was educated in a Bilingual Catholic school, but alas, not in the Ag Capital of the World. In the face of such an argument, I must concede.

Who's trying to "add legitimacy"? I just have it, like my killer sense of style and my dimples. And, by the way, if you'll notice, you're the one that got your panties all twisted about race. You would think that your vast experience with it would have made you more nonchalant!

I'm not sure you what you anti-Bush guys want, short of Dubya closing up shop and handing the Oval Office keys to Nancy Pelosi. If he does nothing, you complain. If he does something you guys whine. If he does something beneficial, you are upset he didn't do enough. If he does something ostensibly harmful, you are upset he did too much.

He showed up in Iraq and gave a visible gesture of support that shows he-- and by extention the world --recognises the legitimacy of the new Iraqi government. Note that the Iraqi president did not go to Washington, but vice versa. In essence, it was the mountain coming to Muhammed, so to speak. While these efforts go unappreciated by you, the Iraqi people see it as being honored by a visit by the person primarily responsible for freeing them from Hussein in a country everyone would agree is dangerous at best. Bush was at the very least and for a short while, sharing in the risk of simply being in Iraq. Moreover, he will undoubtedly visit the troops, who, by-and-large, love the man.

Sure it's a PR event, but does that negate the visit? Absolutely not, just as Patrick Kennedy made a public statement he is pleading guilty for his offence (RACK him btw, for being a man and sacking up to what he did. My estimation of the guy has skyrocketed. Perhaps the Kennedy clan finally produced a politician with integrity). Both were PR events, both had their place.

Those of them that didn't tell NPR that they were better off under Saddam do, I'm sure. Tell me, when you homogenize like that, does it tickle? I'm just expressing my views. I never claimed to speak for an entire country, race, or side of the aisle. Except for the 'wanting more' part, because it's true.

In the Green Zone, with bodyguards... I'm sure the Iraquis (some of them, wouldn't want to generalize) feel all warm and fuzzy.

Nothing would negate the visit, short of him disappearing into thin air. It just doesn't make it something that will make people think any differently about the situation in Iraq. I doubt anyone's coat has turned due to this, although I suppose it's in the realm of possibility. Kennedy made a personal error, and it's on him to take responsibility for a mistake. Good for him, but no one died. I would that I could say the same about the errors I feel Bush made.

Unfortunately, NPR's pulse on the wrist of the Iraqi people is tenuous at best. While they can do some good news reporting, to use them at the yardstick by which our success or failure in Iraq is defined is much like using Charles Schumer's thoughts on Bush's Iraq visit as the barometer of how effective it actually is going to be. In other words, you need an eighteen wheeler filled with pallets of Mortens Salt to season that viewpoint.

Look, we are not going to come to any agreement here, regardless. And, it's possible, Bush may exit his term in the White House ignominiously. Who knows? I still say that history will prove he has done the right thing rather than accept the status quo in the Middle East. But hey, there are still people who claim Truman's use of the atomic bomb was unconscionable or that Reagan did not end the Cold War, so I'm certain even that will be debated.
