From what I've heard so far, in addition to taking out the big , they conducted more than a dozen simultaneous raids on known centers of Al Qaeda operations, basically taking out a huge portion of mid-level operatives. They've been doing this all along in smaller "doses," with the theory being that if you can take out the mid-level, the top level will eventually collapse.

And all of this is occurring just as the new Iraqi Prime Minister installed 3 critical defense and security ministers to his cabinet. I hope the momentum is enough that Iraqis can take control of their own country and we can get out with some semblence of dignity.
