That about sums it up. Somehow, the woman continually surprises me with just how ****** and horrible she can be. I don't deny that she's intelligent. Some of you must listen to her, please explain why. How do you garner anything from this woman through the cloud of bitterness and venom that she cloaks herself in? Any actually valid point she might be making is completely blocked out to me by her absurd need to be a complete ***** about everything.

Oh yeah, linky.

Could they have picked a worse picture? She looks like she's smiling at the thought of ripping the interviewer's throat out and smearing arterial blood all over her pinched-up mug.

Come to think of it, that's probably an accurate representation.

I don't particularly pay much attention to Ann Coulter, and I certainly have not read her book. However, based purely on the talk on Air America, it seems as though most of those arguing against her on this issue end up proving her point for her.

The basic argument she was making was that these victims have used their victimhood to provide an unassailable political position for the left completely out of proportion to the larger picture. Thousands of people lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks, but groups like movon.org have latched on to the small handful that are willing to use their tradgedy as a political rallying point. That is what she was talking about. And it's a very valid point to make.

The fact that she's getting so much heat in response to criticising these women proves the point she was trying to make. That we give them more "voice" because they are victims, and that anyone opposing their voice is labeled as cruel and heartless, thus making it virtually impossible to debate the actual issue itself. Note that no one is debating whether these women have valid points, or whether the proposals they've made are sensible ones. Everyone's so caught up in bashing anyone who dares to question them to even bother with that.

She is ******* But she's got a valid point. She's also someone willing to be portrayed as a ***** in order to make that point. And, judging by the massive attacks she's getting in respones, she's making it quite well.

This is old news already. Everyone knows that she is rather over the top in her condemnation of others.

Not a fan of hers, but she does make good points. Personally, I like Michael Savage

No, it proves she's an unmitigated cu[Aqua][/Aqua]nt who has no idea how to present any position except adversarily.

All she had to say was, "I sympathize with their loss; however, I cannot condone making decisions based on emotion, however heartfelt. That's why a murder victim's family can't sit on the jury."

But no, she had to prove what a hard, bitter hag she is. Again.

Thank Bob she's aging badly.

People have made that point before without sounding like a complete *****. Who knows, maybe I'd even agree with some of her "points" if I weren't totally turned off by her presentation and stopped reading after 5 words. My question is this: people can listen to any number of outspoken individuals with opinions in line with hers. Why her? What's the appeal? I know I'm naive to think that most people aren't total bastards, but come on...how the hell is she so popular?

Well. It would have been a pretty short book if that's *all* she said...

And be honest. If she'd said it that way, would you have heard what she said?

That point has been made over and over by conservative talk folks. But unless you happen to listen to conservative talk radio, or Fox news, you've likely never heard it. By being ****** about how she phrased it, she got immedidate national mainstream media press and her point got heard.

If there's one thing about Ann Coulter that you kinda have to respect, it's that she's willing to take huge amounts of heat in order to make a point. While you're calling her a hag and a *****, millions of other people are watching her on the Today show and thinking "Hey. She's a *****, but she's got a point...".

Which is exactly why she did it.

Honestly? Yes. In fact, it's the only approach I would respect, or pay any attention to whatsoever. Shrill, hateful, deliberately inflammatory people (outside of message boards, no offense to anyone here!) just turn me off.

I'm not the only one, I'm sure. Someday some bright politician will rediscover diplomacy, compromise, statesmanship... you know, politics - and be regarded as a genius of his/her time.

Then get shot in the head, naturally.

It's the thought that counts, though.

Except I wasn't asking what kind of approach you'd respect. I was asking about what kind of approach you'd actually hear.

I can absolutely guarantee you that if she had not used the language she used, you'd have no clue that she'd written a book, much less what was written in it. And certainly, we would not have a thread on this forum about it. And certainly, the Today show would not have had her as a guest.

And you'd never have heard her "polite" point of view. You might have agreed with it had you heard it, but in today's media environment, polite and inciteful points of view simply don't get airtime. Not on a national mainstream scale. I'd love for it to be otherwise, but it isn't.

Well, the fact that I've completely discounted anything she has to say precisely because of the way she chooses to say it should (but won't, so don't bother) tell you that you're wrong, or maybe just that our priorities are completely different.

Big, big surprise there.
