2 found dead inside deflated balloon
LUTZ, Florida (AP) -- Two college students were found dead inside a large, deflated helium balloon after apparently pulling it down and crawling inside it, officials said.
The deaths of Jason Ackerman and Sara Rydman, both 21, appear to be accidental, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Maj. Bob Schrader said.
Their bodies were found Saturday partially inside a deflated helium balloon at the entrance of a condominium complex a few miles north of Tampa.
The 8-foot-diameter balloon was used to advertise the complex.
"It was more a fun thing they thought they were doing," said Linda Rydman, whose daughter was found dead. "You know how you blow up the balloon and suck the helium."
The county medical examiner said Sunday that the cause of death won't be released for six weeks, until toxicology results come back.
Inhaling helium can quickly lead to brain damage and death from lack of oxygen, according to the Compressed Gas Association, which develops safety standards in the gas industry.
Ackerman was an advertising major at the University of South Florida and Rydman was a student at Hillsborough Community College.

10 bucks says they saw something with someone going inside a balloon at one time on tv, got high/drunk, and figured they would try it themself. I've seen it a couple times on tv before out here... some dude goes around and climbs into a giant balloon.

A lioness at Kiev's zoo has killed a man who climbed into her enclosure.
A Ukrainian of Azerbaijani origin lowered himself into the enclosure using a rope. He was quoted as saying God would save him.
One of four lions in the enclosure seized the 45-year-old by the throat, and he died at the scene.
The zoo - which keeps the lions on an "island" protected by concrete blocks - was packed with visitors at the time of the attack on Sunday.
"The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," a zoo official told Reuters news agency.
"A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."
So passe. If you're going to go out with a bang, dont do something thats been done to death.

Medical officials are working to determine the cause of death of a 16-year-old Howell High School student who was found dead by his mother.
Alan Earl Bensinger's mother found him lying in his bed on March 21, with a plastic bag covering his face with duct tape, according to the Livingston Daily.
An autopsy performed on Bensinger listed the cause of death as asphyxiation due to suffocation.
There are questions circling regarding the plastic bag found over the boy's face, and officials wonder if Bensinger was playing the choking game.
"Given the circumstances of his death, it appears that he either placed the bag on, over, his head or face with the intention of killing himself, or he placed the bag on/over his head for the reportedly pleasurable effects of near asphyxiation," Dr. Joyce deJong told the Livingston Daily.
Bensinger's family said they hadn't noticed any suicidal tendencies in him.
Police said all they can do for the time is guess what exactly happened.

Liang was pushed to safety by a railway policeman just as he was about to be knocked down. Liang jumped down to the tracks and wanted to use Xianglongshibazhang, a famous kung fu posturing described in many swordsman fictions, to stop the running train.
He was taken into custody for breaking railway rules and said he wanted to test whether or not he could use kung fu to stop the train. Liang is a great fan of swordsman fiction and has also learnt martial arts.

There was an MP in the town where I live (Eastleigh, UK) who was found dead on a table, naked with a plastic bag covering his face.
Apparently, if you have sex when near asphyixiation, then it's a lot more enjoyable and normal sex won't do it for you anymore.
Maybe that's what the kid was trying to do?
Pretty annoying that my hometown is famous for a gay MP who died trying to make **** more enjoyable.
