btw, moore is currently doing a documentary on HMO,s and how they operate. kind of like the "supersize me" one.
The further away from a free market the health care system is the worse the quality and higher the price will be, by definition. In real terms all that government regulation and intervention has cost millions of lives and left many worse off medically. But people like Moore and Hillary Clinton are morons who could care less about real effects, and only care about their violent enforced agendas. And on the other side of course you have monopoly seeking drug companies causing a similar effect.
The solution is extremely easy. Gut all regulation of the health care system, including tax breaks, subsidies, Medicare, Medicaid, and ban all Patents. Prices would quickly plumet and quality just as quickly skyrocket. Simple supply and demand. You can't charge riduclous rates for things when people can't afford those ridiculous rates and competitors offer the same thing at cheap market rates.
Government screws it up the same way they ***** up education and the result is absurdly high education costs. Every dollar government throws in the form of subsidies, credits, whatever, is just another dollar those institutions raise their price by. Duh. It's $900 hammers throughout everything government gets involved with.
Edit:
And since I just solved the health care crisis I might as well solve the education crisis too. Fire 99.9% of all the teachers and administrative staff. Broadcast the best 0.1% of the teachers lectures live and saved on the internet. Simulate everything that is learned at 1/billionth of the cost. Innumerable links showing steps, on-line tests, on-line materials, etc, available and individually tailored to every student's own pace. No more reason to pay $500/hour in tuition, and education is truly as free as can be and of equal quality for all who want. You want to toss pom poms or run around an oval? Do it on your own time in your own youth leagues.
