differant mind set.....Follow

#1 Jun 01 2006 at 2:26 PM Rating: Default
while americans graple with the shock of enraged marines bursting into a couple homes, linning its occupants up and shooting them down in cold blood, proclaiming the worst attrocity of the war.......

the middle east is mostly silent....not that you would know here in the United States as most middle east news is censored out before you get to see it.

oddly, this bothers them, but not nearly as much as the prison abuse situation.

differant mind set. they expect to die at their enemies hands. they accept it.

however, trample on their pride, flush theri religion down the toliet, desicrate their holy areas.....and they are ready to do murder.

amazing how the two incidents affect the two people, us and the iraqies, in vastly differant ways. in one situation, americans barley raise an eyebrow, yet the muslim world is ready for war. in the other situation, americans are ready to hang our own, yet the muslim world barley raises an eyebrow.

lost on our western mentality is the idea that God is not created in OUR immage alone. we belive everyone thinks and reacts as we do, and as we would in a givern situation. this is a perfect example of the differant mindsets of two people half a world apart. as inconcievable as it is to us, their religion is more important than theri life. and just as inconcievable to them is how we value our life above EVERYTHING else, including degredation, morals, and religious values.

their ways disgust us. as our ways disgust them.

and neither side is willing to live and let live.

on with the bloodletting. the moral majority working...hard....for you.

I think that this thread could use a recipe to honor Islam, shadowrelm and kumquat marmalade.

ROASTED PORK TENDERLOIN WITH KUMQUAT-JALAPENO MARMALADE

  • ingredients

  • 2 cups kumquats, stemmed, quartered, seeded
    3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
4 small shallots, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
1 medium Granny Smith apple, peeled, seeded, chopped (about 1 cup)
3 tablespoons minced seeded jalapeño chiles, divided
    1/2 cup dried apricots, chopped
    3/4 cup water
    3/4 cup sugar
    3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
    2 1-pound pork tenderloins

  • preparation

  • Using on/off turns, finely chop kumquats in processor (do not puree). Heat 1 tablespoon oil in medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add shallots, apple, and 1 tablespoon jalapeño. Cook until shallots are soft, stirring frequently, about 4 minutes. Add chopped kumquats, apricots, 3/4 cup water, sugar, and 3/4 teaspoon salt. Bring to boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Boil until mixture thickens, about 6 minutes. Transfer marmalade to small bowl. Stir in remaining 2 tablespoons jalapeño. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cool, cover, and chill. Rewarm before serving.)
Preheat oven to 350°F. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat. Sprinkle pork with salt and pepper. Add pork to skillet; brown on all sides, about 10 minutes total. Transfer skillet to oven; roast pork until thermometer inserted into center registers 145°F, about 15 minutes. Remove pork from oven; let stand 10 minutes.

Cut pork into 1/2-inch-thick slices. Serve with warm marmalade.

The moral kumquat marmalade majority.... working for you.

    Well, I kinda read it.

    You're missing option number three:

It's really not as big of an "atrocity" as the US press is making it out to be, and that's why it's not that big of a deal in the area where it actually happened.

    Just presenting alternative possiblities here.

Why should we assume anything within the thread's body makes any sense or has any clarity if you can't even bother to spell the damn subject line correctly?
