I had an apointment this morning for my full exam to see whether or not I was on target with my estimated due date. My old Dr, who delivered my son, is not doing OBGYN anymore so he referred me to a place specifically for pregnancies one floor down from him. I hate going to new Dr's in the first place, but the events that occured today have me gnashing my teeth.

Apt was for 9:30. Usually I can bring my son to Dr visits but this is one that kids just shouldnt tag along. So I borrowed a favor from a friend of mine and asked if she would be willing to babysit. I hauled my son to her house and then drove over the Drs apt, 10 minutes ahead of schedule.

I signed in, was told to sit and wait, grabbed a magazine and chilled. I finished that magazne and grabbed another. And another. I looked at my phone clock. It had been 45 minutes. I went over to the desk and reconfirmed my appt was indeed at 9:30. I was told it was, but that the Dr was in a meeting and shed be out soon. Asking why I wasnt called to let me know that things would be running late for a scheduled meeting, I was asked to please sit down. I did, grumbling loud enough for all the other pregnant moms in the room to hear me. All of a sudden there was an explosion of complaints. Seems I wasnt the only one waiting way past their time and angry pregnant moms get loud and vicious.

An hour after my scheduled time Im ushered in by a flaky nurse whos all plasticy smiles asking how I am today. You know me. With a straight face I told her she should have asked me an hour ago.
"Oh, why is that?"
"Because an hour ago I would have been fine. Right now Im not too happu."
"Oh? How come?" (No one can be this naive. But just in case I explained fully why I was at present, not in my best happy mom attitude.)

I was ushered in the room, told to throw on those ungainly johhnys and the Dr would be with me no later than in 30 minutes. 30 minutes???? My apt was at 9:30 not at 11!!! After bi[Aliceblue][/Aliceblue]tching some more I nodded, threw that hated johnny on and read another few books. 30 minutes later the nurse showed up again and said that the Dd had 2 more patients ahead of me and would be at least 45 more minutes.

At that point I had enough. I stood up, told the nurse no, and that I was leaving. She was too shocked or too dumb to reply before I verbally ushered her out of the room and threw my clothes on. I walked out the door, went to the receptionist, and asked to reschedule with a Dr who would actually show up.

I have an apt next Wed with a new Dr.

DSD, I didn't know you moved to Canada!

I feel your pain. I am a punctual person. If it says my appointment is 12:00 I show up at at least 5 or 10 mins. before my scheduled appt. There is nothing more aggravating than having to wait 30 mins or longer for a SCHEDULED appointment. What's even worse is when that particular docotor has a policy that if you cancel or come late for your appointment they will charge you anyway! Why are we expected to show up on time for our appt. but they do not feel they should adhere to the same thing. Crazy.

Kudos to you for walking out.

That's one of the reasons I will only go to a doctor if I'm dying. I can't stand how they make you wait for hours on end. Good job in walking out.

No, Flea, no nut kicking. Everyone there was female. However, I think I scared the nurse. Not her fault, shes not the Dr, but I did get very quiet and dangerous sounding when she came in the last time to tell me I had another 45+ minutes to wait. She was there. The Dr was not. Yes, Im a bi[Aliceblue][/Aliceblue]tch

I tried wheedling out of all this nonsense, since Im not going to be with these doctors when my due date arrives. But my real Dr said no, I had to suck it up and deal with newbies. Stupid Dr, what does he know?

Oh just wait until you go to have some bloodwork done and right when you feel the sting on your arm the nurse says "oops..." and grabs lots of bandages. THAT... was fun!

I think it should be "Going to a new doctor sucks." You forgot to capitalize too. Don't even get me started on sentence structure either.

techincally it is doctors, seeing as it is a practice of 4 doctors and you see all four of them equally. You dont get 1. You get the whole package.

As for sentence structure, Im still in the mood for nut kicking. Wanna volenteer?

no, that would only get you out of dealing with your son. I think you should stay intact and able for when he wakes up screaming at 1:15, 2:15, 3, and 4:10 am tonight

...

Oh no no no! I think the sentance structure is fine!

Don't mess with a pregnant woman.

Seriously, you have every right to be angry. Every time I see someone with the fake-happy face on, I want to make them fall and land on something hard.

I'm sure that one should never be kept waiting like that.

He woke up once, at 1:30 after going to bed at 9. Then he slept until 8.

I didn't get up with him.

How's the puking? Having fun? Constipated/heartburn/cramping/aching/moodswings/hemroids treating you well?

Hope you are doing well too.

Love you. Smiley: inlove

haha actually, I havent had much or any of those symptoms. Baby and I get along just fine. Only thing I have dealt with was a few weeks of motion sickness only when I tried to play my MMOs. Fortunately that stopped this week and Im back. Oh yeah, and my boobs are rocking right now =) Most of the time though, I completely forget I am pregnant. I know it will only last a couple more weeks, but Im enjoying it while I can.

Haha
