Unless it's a retiree teaching in their spare time, I'd think that 99% of teachers out there are a bunch of pinko tree-huggers. Who else would take such a ******, low paying job by choice?

Does she have bad pronunciation too?

What could you be learning about in English 101 that would require that sort of rhetoric?

My first year English prof in Uni was a wishy washy idealistic feminista spouting the virtues of her Unitarian upbringing.

I was mature enough not to get ensconced in her idealogy and still learn at the same time. I was also man enough about it not to *****, even jokingly on a forum about it like a republican poosay!

This is college, for Bob's sake. This is supposed to be a medium of free thought and idea. Instead, I'm being told "this is what happened, and this is how it is."

My history teacher is a total ****.

I'm not sure that he actually subscribes to any of the ideals of the National Socialist Party but he is making me write an opinion paper on why it was so difficult to balance state and national powers after the American Revolution.

What a fascist Smiley: mad

Well, I donl;t thin kthat it's possible to have free thought and ideas without someone that disagrees with their OWN free thoughts and ideas.

You know, as odd as this sounds, I can't remember any teacher speaking political, social, religious, or economic views inside of any class not meant for that purpose. Outside of class maybe, in normal conversation, but never in class.

Mock me all you will, this is still just more than a bit ridiculous. Here we are "discussing" the concept of groupthink, all while actively engaging in the same concept. I feel subtlely patronized.

Sounds like the professor who taught english 202 for me... no political ideas, but damn did he not want people to argue with him, especially about Paradise Lost.

Good thing I slept through most of his class.

Edit -=Scrap that, more on point.

You want to limit the scope and content of intellectual discourse to what you feel is politically and idealogically appropriate?

/scoff

(that or you just want to play the role of the 'whiney pubbie')

I think it would be more appropriate to broaden the scope of the discourse to allow for ideas other than the ones the teacher holds as right.

Unless its a lecture. Then just go to sleep.

It's a summer course, so there's only about 20 people in it. Also, we're in a computer lab (duh), so there's no comfortable place to sleep without being spotted.
