Except Totem.

Gbaji is anti gay marriage but at some point in his 'swinger' lifestyle he has inadvertantly touched the odd ***** and been confused about liking it and being repulsed at the same time. So he doesnt flat out attack gays.

Wow, interesting costume contest, and sad. I bet the guy hosting was 10-15. However, not as interesting as that cross dressing transvestite one that I participated in however. But this one takes the cake in ignorance. Gee, has CoH's maturity level dropped while I was gone? Or has Virtue gotten stupidier?

I wonder if CoH will have another Gay Day... "u r al fhegs 4 drssng up liek dis omg"

Let's be honest. Anyone participating in an online costume contest of superheros doesn't exactly have theri finger on the pulse of heterosexuality to behing with.

I would hope the fact that I roleplay a half~ling priest named "Puddles the Bedwetting Clown" who is gendered confused wouldn't reflect negatively in anyway on my sexuality or any other aspect of my real life!

Very true. Although, Pride Warrior had it coming to him, it is the internet, it is a MMORPG. If he was offended why the hell did he make something like that? I mean what the costume contest holder did was indeed cruel but, it had to happen eventually, right?

When I started playing mmorpgs, it was wise for women gamers to not play feminine characters to avoid being harass by males who just wanted to cyber.

This weekend I was in a room full of female gamers in a panel on being one.

We no longer have to fear just walking into a gaming event and being suddenly mobbed by guys who all want to date us.

Hate speech is not right, no matter how PC or not, you care to be.

Only defense I have for myself, when someone says something that hurts is to turn it into a joke and laugh about it. It is not easy to just "Deal With IT" though when you can't help how you were born. I can be as mean as any when I feel someone isn't worth the time of day, but there are some places I never go.

I suggest all you White males saying people are Pussies please go read "Black Like Me."

All female gamers want is sexy males to ogle at. Show me the hot tight Buns, Guys! Shame that most of the guys who turn me on are checking each other out and rather die and go to bed with a female.

The poster has just spent 3 days with little sleep and way too much brain overload known to be healthy for mortals. Neil Gainman Rocked and poster needs to go sleep for the next 72 hours. No part of this post may make sense, but you can all GFY and just wait until the short stories he read at BaltiCon 40, are published someday.

I find this humourous when viewed in context of the X-Ylumite thread and Elnes and Nobbys banter.

Ahhh... hahahahahahahahaha--takes a breath--hahahahahahaha!

The rainbow warrior guy in the OP got reamed! Hahahah, reamed! Get it? Reamed? Hahahahahaha!

Ok, seriously, anyone who has the name "Pride Warrior" and wears rainbow colors in a game largely populated by male teenagers either doesn't understand the mentality of his peers or needs to grow a thicker skin, because that's the way life is. Is it insensitive? I suppose so, but since when did that ever stop middle schoolers from poking fun of those that flaunted out-of-the-norm behavior?

I suspect, assuming this was a PvP server, he went and got his level-whatever main toon and logged back in to kick this guy's a$$. No need to feel bad for him, Sab.

But the MOST offensive detail was the fact that nobody in Atlas Park seemed to react. Nobody said anything negative about what these two players were doing, and in fact everyone seemed to just ignore it or pretend it wasn't happening. If this had been an issue of race instead of sexual preference, everyone in Atlas Park would've been screaming. But everyone just stood around as if nothing had happened, while a fellow player's night and play experience was cruelly ruined. Who knows if that player will ever want to try CoH again after what happened. Needless to say, I was extremely offended and angry, and I contacted a GM who assured me that the two offending players would have "corrective actions" taken against them. I can only assume that means account bans.

What they did was awful, but there is something I don't understand about your story. It isn't clear from reading this, but did you say anything where anyone other than a GM could see it? If you didn't, I don't see how you can be offended that others didn't either.

I don't totally agree with that. Words of discrimination, while far from ideal, aren't something to get bent out of shape over. I respect a person's freedom of speech no matter how much I disagree with what they're saying.

On the other hand, ACTS of discimination are very different. Pixellated discrimination is not a concern for me.

Theres a thread in the asylum saying to Karma camp rimesume simply because of his opinion...once again the OOT comes under the wrath of the Asylum. Thats the point, the Asylum will troll the OOT and it appears that you, the admins , look the other way.

My point in the thread is that Sabo is harping about cruelty yet he never once said anything when Katie made racist comments about Melianas asian ethinicity "Slant eyed 'skimo", he participates in calling COdyy fat and even made a comment about having sex with Melianas 3 year old son; you can't complain about cruelty if you are a contributor to it.

Niobia, as I said before... get your facts straight. I wasn't here when Katie made the comments you said she made, I came into that thread very late and had to ask what was going on to be caught up, as I recall. I don't even know who Codyy is other than seeing his occasional posts and you can even ask him if I've ever called him fat. And I said nothing about having sex with Melina's 3 year old, I said I'd be interested in seeing what he looks like when he grows up in case I was interested in seeing him someday (and THAT was a deliberate troll against someone who was already trolling the Asylum). As for Katie, she is brash and rough and very often wrong, but she's also blunt and honest and she always speaks her opinion no matter how unpopular it is. I LIKE Katie, she has a unique charm that she brings to the Asylum. I don't always agree with her, but I respect her for her balls-to-the-wall attitude. You, however, bring absolutely nothing to any board I've seen you post on.

And thank you for ruining yet another thread. I was trying to make a point and bring a message of tolerance and understanding to my fellow MMO players. I was trying to illustrate that words can hurt people. And here you come with your attitude problem, completely derailing what was SUPPOSED to be an intelligent discussion. I very seldom foray into the Sandbox, and when I do it's always with good reason. I wanted to illustrate the point that people can be unnecessarily cruel, and that unless we want to play our games in an atmosphere of bigotry, we should say something about it. But not only did you derail the thread, your attitude and trolling were bad enough that Dana had to move my thread from the OOT to the Asylum, where it won't do very much good.

Niobia, you contribute NOTHING to this site. Not one time in all the posts I've read of yours have you ever offered info or talked about a game. You don't usually even stay to the thread's topic. Instead, you flame and troll and generally try to start arguments. I didn't tell you how I felt about you in OOT because I try to respect the language filter on that board, but this thread is in the Asylum now, and I can say what I really feel. You're an ignorant bi[/Aqua]tch with some itch up your cu[Aqua]nt that drives you to try to ruin every thread you post in. Every post you make is a fecal stain of bad grammar and attention-whoring. And I guarantee that if you suddenly left this site, not one person of Allakhazam's thousands of users would miss you, much less even notice your absence. You bring nothing to this site except an attitude problem and a need for the attention that trolling can get you. In short, you're a very sad little person who needs to start trouble in order to feel that people have noticed you.

And I know you don't like karma campers, so I feel I owe you fair warning by telling you that I am making it my personal mission to camp down every single post of yours I ever find. I will personally see to it that you drop below sub-default and I never have to read your pathetic attention-whoring trolling bullsh[/Aqua]it again. And don't go bit[Aqua]ching in the Feedback Forum about how I'm camping you and the admins aren't doing anything, because I am using the karma system EXACTLY as it was intended. Because I believe that everything you post truly is worth an Awful rating, and I'm going to start using my power to give you the ratings I honestly feel you deserve. I have tried to ignore you and your attempts to start trouble with me up until now, but I'm done with that.

And back to the actual topic on hand...

Totem: CoH doesn't actually have PvP servers, instead each server has PvP zones. Atlas Park isn't a PvP zone. However, the Virtue server is the unofficial roleplay server, which is why you see a lot more variety in hero costumes and themes. I've seen heroes of every minority, everything you could imagine. Which is why, even though the costume was very obviously gay, I don't know for sure if the player was or not. I used to play a character who was a black scientist fighting against racism. And, though I agree that having a costume and name like the person in my story does call attention to yourself, and negative reactions should probably be expected, something as extreme as what happened that night should definitely not be tolerated. It's one thing to shrug off being called a ***, but it's another to be publicly humiliated in front of everyone in the zone.

And for those that asked, I did indeed help the player. I reported the behaviour to a GM, I shouted for other players to do the same, I even tried to offer the player a million influence to make up for the fact that he won a "contest" and didn't get anything but shame for it (he refused my trade window and logged).

And also, I appreciate the feedback and the attempts to get the thread back on track, especially ElneClare's insights.

And earlier in this thread, you said you agreed with what I was saying. Now you suddenly don't. Thanks for proving my point about you, and for giving me another post to rate. =)

And no, I wasn't expecting anyone to get emotional or pat me on the back. I didn't even rate Rimesume down (though others have apparently taken care of that) for his apathy. I was trying to make a point that applies to all MMORPGs, and the Sandbox was the best forum to make that point in and get it across to players of every game. Posting it here wouldn't have made any difference, since the bulk of the Asylumites are pro-gay rights as it is.

Oh, and for future reference, intelligent people don't use the expression "Oh n0ez". Just thought I'd help my new favourite karma buddy out a bit. =)

Not that I really want to bother with it, but isn't that just a tad hypocritical considering your earlier remarks complaining about people being made fun of by Asylumites?

God, you're thick. Keep posting though, it's all rate fodder to me. And just so you know, there's no such thing as a post being too old to rate. Just a tip.

And, since you've graciously decided to allow my thread to return to the topic you worked so hard to derail it from, allow me to address your "points". First of all, I'm not a "crybaby". I don't give a rat's left ******** what people say to me. Eldy calls me a *** all the time and I still like seeing him post. However, I do get very upset over hatred of differences in other people. I'm very outspoken on the subjects of racism, sexism, and homophobia. They're detrimental to a functional society, and I'd like the world to be the best place it can possibly be. Unlike your friend Rimesume, I'm not content to sit back and watch someone being abused for a factor outside their control without saying something. I'm a bleeding-heart liberal who hates the suffering of other people. If it had been an issue of race or gender or religion, I would've been equally outspoken. Because, unlike you, I'm a decent human being who cares about others. =)

EDIT: Hi to Deb and Mav, I see you both up there in the recent list, don't think you're being sneaky. =D
