Game Beta OpportunityFollow

#1 May 26 2006 at 2:17 PM Rating: Good
I've signed up for the Middle-Earth Online MMO beta to see if it's exciting. I've also listed the Asylum as a guild and linked the forum in the application. It seemed fitting since a lot of us game together in one game or another. Apparently, if a bunch of people from the same guild apply, it gives that group of people a better chance to get approved.

Here is the site to apply for the beta which is due to open this summer.

You all ***** and moan that I don't come play WoW with you, so here's a chance for us to hack at another new game together. Maybe this will be what gets me into indefinate vacation mode in ogame. Smiley: sly

Make with the applications ********

I'd rather stick my ******* in a Leopard's mouth and flick it's love-spuds with a mallet.

But thanks for asking.

Just registered and listed the Asylum as the guild. Smiley: yippee

Edit: Did you use forum=4 as the guild website or Angsty's site?

Okay, registered, but I never get accepted for Betas. One of these days I'll figure out what lies to tell.

Done and done. I'm signed up for Vanguard and Warhammer as well. I wonder if Vanguard is currently in beta now. I know release dates are not reliable on Electronics Boutique's website, but it has 7/1 as the release for Vanguard.

In the meantime, I'm determined to level a toon up as high as I can in EQ2 on the Antonia Bayle (RP) server. Smiley: smile

Drama aside, what do you think of the work done on EQ2; choose class right off the hop, removal of subcombines in crafting, seeing what you are harvesting, addition of lots and lots of solo content etc.

I picked up the game a month ago and I am convert.

That's all in the past, Bhodi. For my part, I'm sorry I was an ***. Moving on to the topic at hand -

I've always liked EQ2. I actually miss the progression levels (ex. scout -> bard -> troubadour or dirge). Still, it's nice to be the full class from the get go, too.

I've only been back in for about a month, but I like the new newbie island quests, the new solo quests for the city zones and outside city areas (I've got 10 toons and most of them are at level 15 but for the few I keep redoing - I think I have the toons I can stick with...but then again!). That armor from the caves quest for my Qeynosian alts has come in handy.

I haven't ever done much in the way of crafting, but I always thought it was kind of cool here in EQ2. I've been simply too busy leveling up my alts, deleting them and remaking them to have the time to deal with crafting.

Taking a break from leveling up my low level toons, I finally got the legendary journeymen boots for my lev 31 troubador. That was my first major accomplishment in the game and I was very happy about it. See my Zoom thread on that. I'm back to getting my other low level alts up to about 15 before I figure out which one I want to get to level 20 first.

I dig both cities now, where before I didn't care much for Freeport - I think after reading so many Warhammer novels I am preferring the grittier life than the sweet and rosy one in Qeynos. But then again, I know Qeynos better so it's easier to level up my toons - I could almost do it in my sleep by now.

What's your starting city, class/race combo for your main(s)?

I've been di[Aqua][/Aqua]ckering around with a bunch of race/classes. My favorite by far is my Woodelf Ranger in Qeynos. A real button pusher DPS class that solo's quite effectively. Gotten him up to lvl 38 in little over a month.

I have an Erudite Templar at lvl 14 and a Barbarian Guardian at lvl 10. The templar is starting to grind, he is getting close to being fit for BB though. The Guardian is a tank, not bad for soloing but just swinging a sword and pushing the occassional button. Neither is as fun as my ranger but are good when I need a break, so I leveling them on rest xp.

I had a 12 Froglok paladin that got deleted.

Other than that I am still picking and choosing seeing as how I am limited to 6 chars.

Heh, I'm playing my Kerran Ranger right now. I prefer the scout classes for their versatility. But my monk barbarian and bezerker dwarf are fun as well. Dirges and troubs are really great utility classes and their speed is insane fun.

I'm on the Station Pass so I get the 4 extra toons. I know I'm gonna pick up Vanguard, so this way I won't have to pay another subscription fee while I continue with EQ2 - and if I really want to play SW Galaxies, EQ1, etc., I can. But most likely won't.

I figure once I get my alts up to 20, I'll have a better idea of which one I want to level up all the way as much as I can - I really love my troubadour, but my gnome dirge is just too hilarious not to level up.

I signed up for the Beta. Thanks for the "heads up" on that, Eldy. I've been signed up with their site since 2003 I think. Sheesh, this one's a long time coming.

Smoggy, I don't think I'd hold out much hope that Vanguard is going to be available 7/1. The last I'd heard was that the anticipated release date was more toward the end of the year. That could be inaccurate rumor, but I'm trying not to get to worked up yet. I've been looking forward to both LoTR and Vanguard for ages.

Same here. Turbine did a good job with D&D Online in regards to character customization and look - so I'm hoping they will do well with LoTR.

Thanks Yan, I figured as much - I try to hit the Vanguard site at least a few times a week - I hadn't heard anything about open beta yet so I figured that 7/1 date on EB's site was bogus. Too bad, but then again, more time to really level up in EQ2!

My gaming knowledge is pretty much restricted to FFXI news, so can someone tell me why there is Middle Earth Online and Lord of the Rings Online?

Which game you play depends on whether you like Hobbit **** for its magical qualities or whether you like Hobbit **** because it's ersatz kiddie ****.
