I'm not going to say anything about this until a few people have a chance to play.

I somehow always end up making 190-250 bucks a year. One year I planted 6 crops and I made 244$. Another year I planted my entire field, had a wonderful harvest, and made 220$.

...what?

Also, guerillas keep taking my shovel >_> I've bought like 4 of them so far

I think my farmers live on Mercury, given the size of the sun on the horizon. No wonder they can't grow for sh[Aqua][/Aqua]it, it's got to be 700 degrees there.

Also, my farm is apparently virulent with avian flu. The chicken button should be labeled "Throw away $25".

You think YOU have it bad? God damned refugees ate my elephant!! Smiley: dubious

After 100 "years", I have 8 family members plus one in the city, 4 chickens & pigs, a scythe, spade, plow and tractor, shed, well and $988 in the bank. I decided that the barn animals weren't worth rebuilding every time they were stolen, eaten or sold off due to bank crashes.

Apparently, I missed my calling in life.

In two times of playing it, I NEVER made a profit of more, or even equal to, what I spent to plant that shi't. Only time I ever made money was selling my land or dancing in a festival. Thank bob I live in America.

my family told me it was a bad idea to let the western country use my land for a chemical dump, but i didnt listen. they're dead now. at least they wont nag me anymore

---edit

well i made it to 100 rounds. thought i was dead for sure at round 90, but i scored a marriage proposal that got me out of the whole for a bit. the highlight was having an elephant (why i have no idea).

After one hundred rounds, my family has gone through many tribulations. Eight in the family (most you can have, apparently) with two in the city. Lost a few more due to disease, opium airstrikes, etc. Ended up with a well and shed, pig and chicken, shovel and $302. At the most I had 2x pigs/chicken, 2 wells, 2 plows, scythe and shovel, and over $900.

Scrounged up a few tips from the forum and discovered a few things that seem to work:
Buy a well early, and a second one when you have lots of extra cash - wells aren't destroyed or lost easily, and can be sold back, as insurance.
Try to keep one pig and one chicken, and always plant just one corn and one wheat. This should be your best consistent bet at around $100 per day.
I find the scythe and plow to be very helpful; the other tools not so much.
I avoid planting corn when it's over $10; I plant extra wheat if it's below $10; cotton and peanut I'll sometimes plant if they're below $20.

I noticed the same thing on my own. Namely that, if you plant a full field, you nearly go broke buying plants and after living expenses you still pull a tiny profit. If you plant just a couple plants, you pull the same profit and have savings to recoup from an economic crisis.

I was doing a two and two for corn and wheat but never saw extra profit from cotton and peanuts so I ignored them.

I wish there was an option where I could sell a kidney or another organ for the black market. And apparently I'm popping out babies left and right so the baby market's looking good right now.

Pre-emptive disclaimer: It's called sarcasm before certain people starting posting about how cold-hearted that is and how we of the industrialized world can't truly understand the hardships.

Oh the humanity! Its a giant Chicken Bon Fire!

I swear this game gives you "Good Harvest Conditions" only when I have either 1 crop planted or none.
