(First asylum post. Be gentle.)
Ok, I'll follow on from Jacob's "Heartbreakers" theme here, considering this song does more to me emotionally than any other song in the world.
Queen's "The Good Die Young".
Christmas Eve 1999. My sister's 9 months pregnant, and about to give birth at any moment. I'm lying in bed, thinking whether I should get up or stay warm for another 10 minutes... when my mother walks into the room.
"It's your sister. She's been taken to hospital"
I jerk up out of bed and stare at her.
"What's wrong?"
"It's Gabby (she'd already named her daughter). She's dead."
Gabby was later born that day. No one knows what happened... somehow the oxygen supply was cut off overnight, and she just... died.
My mum walks out, crying. At this point, my sister had already had 2 miscarriages. I lie there for what seemed like forever, staring at the ceiling. Eventually, we all roll on down to the hospital. I honestly don't remember anything from the rest of the day...
Skip to the funeral, 2 weeks later. My first ever (that I can remember). Just a complete mix of emotions really, I didn't know what to do - I hardly said a word all day. I just stood there, head bowed. Then this song came on. Apparently my mum had chosen it (my mum and sister are both big Queen fans) but hadn't told anyone it was going to play.
Everyone just burst into tears listening to the lyrics.
To this day, I CANNOT listen to this song. I have to either turn it off or leave the room, it just hurts too much.

From previous posters:
-- Jeff Buckley; His entire album almost brings me to tears. Corpus Christi Carol is one of the finest songs I've ever heard - Grace is my favourite album of all time, by a long way.
-- Damien Rice; Agreed. Very emotional, heartfelt tunes.
-- Sweet Child of Mine; Amazingly, I was listening to this when I read this thread. I was going to suggest it myself. Spooky.
-- Hurt/Johnny Cash; Stunning song. The WWE used this on Eddie Guerrero's Tribute Video Clip for about... 3 weeks, after he died. Heartfelt, emotional, and captured his life perfectly.

I'll leave this thread now. It's making me cry.
