Yeah. I can see why adding something, to see if anyone liked it, would induce ordinary posters into angry flames.

It's readily apparent that taking some points of interest and just randomly throwing them out hasn't drawn any notably positive attention. This is a shame in that there's much to be gained from this sort of thing. I still disagree with your presumptions that everything should comform to the norm to be worth consideration. However, this is the form that's obviously inhabited by regulars. Idealistic objections asside, if those here don't like this sort of thing, I'm not going to bother with it here again.

In the end, many of the flamers here confuse me.. happy to commit on witless and passing idiocy while insulting eachother playfully. Still, if that's how they're happy, that's their life choice. This is mine. If it's not liked here, alright, it was just checking.

While this is fair and impartial, honest, if you will, I'm sure it'll get flamed. Ah wells. Someone still has some ego of their own to defend somewhere.

Ideally, this would've been a point for discussion. All the same, nice contribution.

You know, sometimes basic things just need to be said. Bush's statement here isn't some great display of intellectual ability, but, rather, just a statement of the obvious to outline his point.

These quotes were not Google'd, as stated before. Also, you already knew all of these quotes?

Like everyone is trying to tell you; maybe adding your own thoughts to this would of sparked the debate you are looking for, but just throwing in random quotes from "intellectuals" doesn't really offer anything to the community.

Debates arrise from presented material, various interreptations, and analysis of multiple takes on the material.
Arguments arrise from, among other places, opinions loosely backed up by material.

I'm going for a debate.

You're going for an argument.

It's to this end I'm more than happy to disagree, even if you can't even agree to it.

Have you even read the threads on this forum? Maybe it's not Quantum Physics, but it sure is a lot more intelligent than copy+paste.

But in all honesty, you can take your psuedo-intellect elsewhere, try the OOT forum. They will think you are a god there.

So you're upset at me for doing something as unintelligent as copy/pasting, yet you'd accuse me of psuedo-intellect.

You know, the pesuedo-intellectual thing to do is what you wanted me to do, and, frankly, what you're used to.. to post the material, than my analysis of it, like my analysis was important enough to be in the main thread while no one else's was. No, I'm not into that.

And what exactly arose from your "presentation" in this thread? Other than an obvious failure of your theory's predictive power?

A bunch of quotes I'm fond of.

Not immature remarks. ("theory's predictive power"? Com'n man.)

Actually, Jawbox, there's a bit of irony in your rabid dislike for this post.

You see, I made a post about quotes I like, once. They're there for anyone to see and for anyone to ignore. I never claimed everyone should have to see them, nor did I mislead anyone in the title ("Some quotes").

Now, you, along with several others, are accusing me of being arrogant for forcing this on people. While I've sectioned off a single thread that was straightforward to be ignroed, you're mad at it. And, in the process of flaming it, as well as every other post you make, you post this:
Jawbox's signature wrote:

Com'n, let your ego down and laugh at the irony for a moment.

Pull up a chair, ace.

First off, I assume you meant 'quotations'? I clicked expecting stock market statements.

Secondly, lurk more and understand where you are. You've walked into McDonalds and ordered a Filet Mignon on a bed of pan-fried fennel with sun-dried tomatoes. Save the C'n'P for OOT. You won't look like such an ********* there.

Thirdly, you're too lightweight for the Asylum. You have to be a whiny Emo teen or someone with an axe to grind and the ability to use your own words to generate contention to fit in with 'we'.

Fourthly, quit fu[Azure][/Azure]cking whining about it. Post some opinions or go back to your sister's bed.

Mind the Katie on the way out. It might try to hump your leg.

ReofblMobile. It's my sig. I didn't start a new topic of discussion in which I didn't actually discuss anything.

You might have had a valid point if I had just copy-and-pasted a few lyrics from Tool's new album into a new thread. But what you have instead is another failed point in a long string of failed points trying to defend the fact that your thread of pure copypasta has turned into nothing more than a revelation of your geeky arrogance.

As far as whining goes, I'm just waiting for others to stop. As you can tell, I'm really upset over all of this. I almost care. ;)

Dear god I can't wait till those guys get back from Boston. this place goes to hell after one day? ugh

Side topic: I never gave karma much value but it seems to me that ever person who comes in here with a gray name is a bad fucking poster, just a observation.

Everyone's out to prove his point that this is an emo board for those with something to "grind [their] axe about".
#46 May 13 2006 at 10:07 PM Rating: Decent
what the hell are you talking about? this isn't a emo board, it’s a OOOT forum that is (generally) more sophisticated then what goes on in the OOT forum. let me spell it out for you.

OOT forum, Forum=28, "the sandbox" = where people go to talk about generic non-game bullshit. This is where you go if you have something unimportant, non-thought provoking or generally retarded to say and can't stop yourself from hitting the "New Subject" button.

People who should go there: people with a IQ of less than 80, people who cant handle the asylum, you, and people disliked here on the asylum forum.

the Asylum, "Assylum" = "No holds barred forum for deep OOT discourse. Not for the faint of heart." a place where people who have been here(Alla) for a long time gather. you can call them "elite" members as newcomers are treated like shit to keep this place from becoming the new sandbox. Ordered Chaos in the form of flames, posts from respected members and the occasional **** rape of a FFXI'er that wanders in not knowing his head from his ***.

People who should be here: people who can fit in or be the whipping boys for the asylumites. people who enjoy the aforementioned ordered chaos(smart people who read, not post) and people who want a fast sub-default

I'm gonna create a new version of Godwin's Law.

"Eske's Law":

-As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving "Emo" approaches one.

-Once such a comparison is made the thread in which the comment was posted is finished and whoever mentioned "Emo" has automatically lost whatever debate was in progress.

Meh, it wasn't a debate.. it was a sh[i][/i]it-throwing fest. Sometimes, when people are freaking out, it's just easier to step back and see how reasonable they're getting and to just chill out.

You know, that's the difference between what I wanted, a debate, and what you're up for, an argument. In a debate, points are discussed without emotional attachment and without biase. What you're thinking of is an arguement, where people have something to prove. And, as I've said before, I don't do arguments. If you want to say that means I've "lost" and tell everyone else at recess, feel free. I still say you're being overly emotional.

Ok fucktard, I can see reading comprehension is not in your list of skills.

first, I never claimed to be or not to be emo, the only mention I had of it was the claim that this is a emo board.

second, my response to your thread was "Emo" if want to call it that, but only in this mathematical form:

-your decision to post stupid shit (D)

-ability to click (A)

-ability to type (S)

-fucking ****** topic (E)

-my reading of Asylum threads (F)

-general dislike of people wasting my time with stupid shit that belongs in the sandbox (G)

-people who attempt to cover their mentally deficient topic with a thread change about ANOTHER retarded topic (Y)

Equation: E+S+A^D*(GFY)= Emotional response: Anger

So you're not willing to concede you're over-reacting to seeing a thread you don't like..?
