Smiley: lol No, and it wasn't Cloud, Diabolos, or anything else like that. It was a unique enough name, on this side of normal that the kid won't be therapy for this.

On my server there was recently a death of an 18YO girl player who died of a heart attack. Anyways long story short.. her character was signed in 2 days later and now the "boyfriend" is playing it (whom suppossedly never played) and is damn good. Some others and myself smell a rat. We think it was faked to get attention. No one can find an obituary and the boyfriend logs when ever you ask about it.

If I remember right, his character was just standing there for a few hours and wasn't responding to anyone and then it finally auto-logged. When no one heard from him for a couple of days in game, some friends started calling him. A co-worker finally found him a couple of days later when he was late for some work thing.

My husband thought the guy wasn't able to play because of the back to back hurricanes (this happened in Fall 2004).

I did some digging myself and was able to get the case details. The murderer was arrested on his birthday, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to life in prison about a year later, again just about on his birthday.

When I played EQ I belonged to a raid guild. One of our members said one night, in raid chat mind you, "I think there's someone in my house."

I was astounded. "WHY ARE YOU STILL THERE? GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT!"

What the hell goes through peoples' heads? I can't imagine being so unaware of my surroundings that someone could break in and kill me and I wouldn't hear them because I was too involved in a game - or hearing someone moving around and comment on in it GUILD CHAT instead of, say, 911.

Smiley: laugh

I've seen that all too many times.

Dinglenut tells the group, "Hey guys, I'm going to have to AFK for a few minutes. It sounded like something just fell down the stairs and now the baby is in the basement screaming about something."
Dinglenut tells the group, "Ok?"

Over the years I have had a few online gaming friends pass away. It's been the one time when people who are constantly giving each other a hard time about now their good/evil guild would come together to remember someone who made an impact ingaame.

Normally we would just start a thread on a message board though and share about how we all lost a good friend. Cross posts were made to let other guilds know about their passing away.

Then we also have helped one friend who lost her home to a flood and given another a voice recognition software when one guild mate could no longer type.

Of course there were always the kids that had to show how stupid they were, but even they can grow up and stop begging us to take them to fight the Drac's. Right Debalic?

I was online chatting with friends in NWN, during the Atlanta Olympic bombing when one said he had just got a call from work and they were sending over a taxi to take him to the airport.

Turns out he was a TV reporter for a Prime Time News show.
