Drink anise tea, lay on your left side. It will cause you to expel all the gas, though, so be prepared.

If you feel the need to puke, but your body refuses to coorperate, get yourself a tall glass of icy cold water and chug it as fast as you can. The cold will shock your stomache into contracting, thus allowing your system to empty itself. Plus the water helps to water it down ( ba dum bum) making it less unpleasant

Barring that, Ol' Faithful is an index finger in the back of the throat.

Next time you make chili put a couple teaspoons of bakin soda in your beans. it eliminates the gas in the beans. I swear it really works. I put some in whenever I make beans. Other than that, not sure what to do about the gas that's already existing. *****? laxative? You can clean out the whole colon and that will eliminate the gas.

Having a tablespoon of honey and letting it coat your throat on the way down works wonders.

If a sore throat is really an issue, Cepacol Sore Throat losenges are awesome. They really numb your throat nicely. I am not sure how much they help with coughing though.

Oddly enough, when I quit last fall I never got smokers cough. I got two lovely colds in rapid succession and was pleased that I didn't cough for nearly as long as I did when I was a smoker.

When it finally stopped raining out here my sinuses flared up. I figured, okay, the rain stopped, sun's out, something bloomed, no big deal.

Days - days! - later I finally figured out that it was an honest to Bob cold. I haven't had a cold in years.

All the old remedies do help, though I'm not drinking vinegar for any reason short of the end of the world. For an alternate astringent I find that blueberry juice helps clear my throat, though if yours if raw it might sting a bit. The night cough is mostly positional, as you've noticed; propping yourself up does help a bit.

Popsicles....taste good, keeps your throat wet, you can eat them lying down...also good if you're throwing everything, and I mean everything, up. Popsicles will, in my experience, still stay down.

Pay the extra ten cents for the name brand....store brand are crapzola.

I used to get sore throats from hell. I gargled with salt water for some temporary relief.

Good luck on quitting smoking! Once ya beat it for 2 weeks ya beat it for good...

Don't be afraid to have an emergency cig on the way.. Believe it or not, they will begin to taste like **** after a while.
