When we were in college, my brother's roommate had a ferret. It was pretty cool, although I suspect they kept it as pest control - they lived in an old house in a rundown area, and some of the rats down there would probably kill a cat.
They have always fascinated me. A ferret is an animal that knows no fear. Its ferocity and survival instincts are rivaled by no other animal I have dealt with. I've seen them easily kill rabbits, rats (large ones. Not NY City rats, but river rats), ducks, and even smaller dogs with their teeth and claws. They know to go right for the throat of their prey and bleed it to death.
They are intelligent. Sharp, ever so curious, and smart. I've trained mine to find lost remote controls for my TV, my keys, and other objects. They love to find new things, and are explorers at heart.
As well, they are the most loving and playful animals I have ever had. We have had small children here who can be WAY too ruff with them, yet they have never bitten a human. They love to run and play, explore, and steal shiny things. They are cuddly, and snuggle with people. The way they hop funny and play always make me laugh my *** off.
I know there are gonna be a lot of FTFY’s out of this. (Epically the snuggling part. I’d imagine something along the lines of sexist remarks about men, or references to my ***** size in relation to ferret orifices.) So fire away. Yea, fu[red][/red]ck you guys. I got a soft spot for the fuzzy lil' bastages.
