Unoriginal or just little brother syndrome?Follow

#1 Apr 28 2006 at 2:25 PM Rating: Decent
Occasionally, due to either fat-finger syndrome or boredom, I find myself clicking hte "OOT Forum" link in the navigation of the Allas site eq style sheet. Moments ago it occured again. I was almost fooled into thinking I had correctly clicked on "The Asylum" because many of the threads there were on the same topics that we are or have recently discussed here. Curiously, I decided (against my better judgment) to click in and have a peek to see what was being said in the topics such as "The Star-Spangled Banner, in Spanish" and "Wii". I was not disappointed! They completely lived up to my expectiations of being filled with utter nonsense and unintellectual conversation (I use the term conversation loosely).

I have not linked these threads as to save you all from the pain and suffering that would come of it.

This lends however to my question (the topic); What possesses these people to start identical thread topics in the OOT? Do they come to the asylum, see an interesting topic then like a little squirrel or chipmunk take it back to the safety of their burrow and post it to look like they are all intellegent? I figure it is either this or they have serious Asylum envy and want to be like us jsut like the little brother wants to be like his older. stronger and more intellegent brother.

I do not even entertain the idea that they went out to the internet and found the topics themselves because the execution of presentation is absolutly terrible, many times it can be simplified down to -link- & LOLBIFRONZ!

What do you think the reason is?

I used to spend more time on "philosophical" OoT threads until I noticed that 99.25% of the worthwhile responses came from Forum=4 regulars.

I try not to go in there out of the idea that it's more of a commentary on the company I like to keep versus choosing to entertain myself with their unfortunate lack of intellect.

The forum=28'ers work too hard at villifying Asylumites for them to be unenvious; if theirs were an independant existance they would not consistantly try to ape their betters.

I think their behavior springs largely out of a cargo cult practice; if they make threads with titles like the ones here, perhaps an Asylumite will come back to shower wisdom and flames upon the believers.

As of today. . . .

maybe

A briefing today is that we're moving from 570 employees to 75 and job interviews (everyone has to apply) run May through June.

If the interviews for my post are in late May or June, it's a yes. Otherwise, you'll just have to drink Guinness on my behalf.

Mainly, the OOT people post the same topics because they're so annoyed that they've been rejected from and harrassed by the Asylum, that they're trying to make Forum=28 into the New Asylum.

Mehh. What I'm married to you now?

If I can get there I'll get there.

If not, you'll just have to touch yourself or persuade Flea and Nexa that 3's not a crowd.

I think that people post topics like the ones in the Asylum in the OOT so that they can safely discuss it. You all have to admit, you're not the kindest Hosts/Hostesses. So, they take the conversation somewhere where they feel safer. Yeah, a lot of people worry about their Karma, and though I have seen you let people's posts slip by, its not often. The ones that do get by are often not even responded to I've notice also. So yeah, that is probably why.

Forum=28 is middle school and high school. Forum=4 is college and adulthood. The behaviors to be found in each are largely a matter of degre, so to speak.

Crossover wannabe=high school townie getting drunk at a frat party and taking on all comers, usually. Yes, I'm looking at you and your inept butt buddies.

I dunno, have you driven by a highschool lately and leered at the over-sexualized and early to mature youths?

'Cause I haven't, either, but it doesn't remind me of forum=28.

I see two sets of people in OOT. Niobia's clique of rejects, and a group of people from some of the other forums that are getting tired of their game related forums, but don't want to risk the asylum. WoW and FFXI are the main souces of those, however in WoW, the "for the alliance for the hoarde" forums and for FFXI the various server forums seem to serve as sort of "Mini-OOT's" that slow their move into OOT.

Some see it as an escape fromt he ordinary. Some see it as a route to power mirrorning the Asylum, and some see it as a refuge from the asylum.

Really it wouldn't be that bad in there if if the niobites would just go somewhere else.

They talk dirty to one another in their journals. I actually did see some of the posts in there, well, parts of them anyway, and it's pretty freakin' funny.

Yeah, It's amusing what goes on in their journals. right now they think Goose is the antichrist, and they are swapping "flame katie" strategies. Not very good ones. The real ironic thing is they have not yet figured out the wolves are in their midsts

They're probably drawing straws to see who can be the next to go down in Smiley: flames's.

"I don't want to go, they'll make fun of me"
"I can't go, who will rate people back to normal without at least one scholar"
"You go"
"I thought I just told you I can't"
"OK ... flip coins or draw straws?"
