Tae Kwon Do is mediocre.

If yo uare looking for fitness, go with kickboxing. Cardio Kickboxing if you aren't trying for self-defense.

Ju-Jitsu combined with kickboxing for self-defense and a good workout.

No real story. Went to the bar, drank a bit (tequila aplenty), decided I was too drunk to drive, started walking home, got hit by a truck while crossing in a ped crossing. Airlifted to hospital with closed head injury.

Worst hangover ever.

Thanks for all the opinions, guys. I guess maybe I'll see if I can try a couple classes for free and see if it's for me.

I would suggest shopping around and watching/trying free classes at a few places before you decide. I went to the free classes at several different places and the last one on my list ended up being the one I really liked.

The one I tried first ended up being about like the Cobra Kai guys on Karate Kid. During my first class there, the owner/instructor told me how he could kill someone with 3 hits but he could only do it about 1/60 times Smiley: laugh He also required you to sign contracts for one year at a time and commit to paying the $60/month or whatever for an entire year. He called it 'green belt club' and I was under the impression that if you paid him for a year you would be a green belt.

Actually, Moe I am more of a beer person than a fruity drink person. *Real* martinis of either gin an vermouth, or vodka and vermouth though I just cant get into.

The reason I tried the pineapple one though was because this place was well known for its martinis, both original and not. The pineapple one is made by pouring vast amounts of vodka into a glass jar filled with pineapple and soaked for 7-10 days.

I'd still usually prefer a good Duvel though

I don't see anything that could possibly go wrong with that combination.

Not much of an alcohol drinker myself, but I like doing shots of tequila with the whole lemon/lime and salt ado. Maybe that's because that was all I would touch when I'd hit Revolucion Boulevard in Tijuana.

Otherwise, give me a wine cooler and you'll see me all giggly after I drink about 2/3 of one bottle.

Huh?

It gets weirder, you see little fat fingered Codyy, is Tacosid's ******* son, hence the connection to the martial arts interest.

The little 10 lbs of flour in a 5lb sack, is the result of a brief sexual tryst Tacosid had with a waitress that he met at the AppleBee's tm in Janesville,Wisconsin. It was during the Ralph Macchio film festival at the RAMADA inn, in Janesville Wisconsin.

Similar experience has contributed to an involuntary nausea at the mere smell of tequila.

The square between the border and the bridge had a mechanical bull and I had much tequila.

The man on the corner had a donkey and I had much tequila.

The woman walking down the street raising her dress had the nastiest, skankiet p'ussy I have personally ever laid eyes on and I had much tequila.

The 6 marines had many muscles and I had much tequila.

The girl said "buy me a glass of champagne?" and I had much tequila.

F'uck tequila.

Codyy just said that he's a friggin' teacher in it. Does that sound like a ringing endorsement for Tae Kwon Do for general fitness?

I can't believe it took someone so long to pick up on that. Myself personally I started Muay Thai kickboxing last March. It is an insanely intense workout. Your overall flexibility will improve drastically as well.

Well, the truth of it is...that any martial arts can be a good workout/and or way to learn self defense if the instructor is good.

Tae Kwon do has been plagued in the past by expensive and shoddy teachers that were known to run McDojo's. These people handed out rank for money. On the other hand there is some very good Tae Kwon Do as well. (Allakhazam for example...)

On the other hand, since you are in Raleigh...I would recommend this guy www.gendaimartialarts.com/faq.htm While I do not know Doug Cobb personally, I have heard good things about him and he teaches the same style of karate that I do.

But really what matters is that you find a school that has a good amount of adults in it, and more than a couple of women. My school (www.capefearisshinryu.com) has 13 adult women in the adult class and I have promoted two women to black belt and one teen girl to jr. Black belt. The women in my dojo get a great cardio workout and develop muscle tone without being expected (like in some schools) to do a ton of pushups, sit ups...etc.

If you are serious about this, you can email me or post here. I have alot of martial arts friends in this part of the state and I should be able to help you find a good school that will not be a bankbuster.

Awesome. We may be driving that direction about that time to vacation in Florida with Mr.Katie's father and step mother. Maybe we could all do lunch.

If you guys do that, let me know...I am often in the Raleigh area.

Great advice, thanks a lot Taco. I'll send you a PM on it. Smiley: smile
