I am not a huge Hockey fan but I will cheer for the Flyers whenever possible. I happen to catch Saturdays Game 1 against the Buffalo Sabres. Halfway through first over-time I saw this. By far one of the most vicious hits I have seen in a long time. Me and my buddies just stared at the screen blankly trying to figure out how his head was still connected to his body. He was out for a good 5 minutes before he could start walking.

It was a completly legal check. Stick was in check, etc etc.

The unwritten code accompanying hockey fights was broken that night. I have no respect for a player like Chris Neil. He didn't goad our boys into taking dumb penalties. He was lined up on the face off against our enforcer. They were trash talking back and forth as only fighters know how before the puck was dropped. They both knew there was a fight coming. Instead of backing up his talk, he turtled. Call it what you will, but I stand by my aforementioned statement.

Perhaps someone should let him know then, that the goal is to draw a GOOD player, a threat, into the box. Not just any old guy.

And yes, he's a sissy.

Alright I figured instead of making new thread I'd stick it here in the hockey thread. This morning for the "Paul Brown Shows Really Really Tough contest" on the Bear, an individual was put up to strip naked, have two air horns handy and a whole lot of courage. At 7 am he ran through the hall ways naked blowing the horns off in the hotel where Detroit is staying. Instead of the boys getting to sleep in they were aroused by this. Brendan Shanny was the most upset and later the Bear and everyone involved were all handed out 250 dollar fines. Some people were saying how awful this was and they were embarassed to be Edmontonions.

Tare, assuming you hadn't heard about this, what's your take? And the rest of you, were those actions taken too unethical? Personally I thought it was funny, I'm sure they had a giggle about it when they slipt back into bed a half hour later.

I wouldn't say unethical, but I'd definately say fu[red][/red]cking stupid. I'm sure the Redwings weren't giggling about it at all. And Oilers fans would be furious if this happened to us.

Embarassing indeed.

The other one that was about Oilers dedication was "Take one for the team." A fan had to get the words "Go Oil!" branded onto their back-side. Yes, you heard right, branded. Everytime I heard the explanation for this it made me cringe. Even worse than peircing ones man-hood(another mission on the show.)

It must be easy to win games when the refs blatently look the other way on all of your pick plays.

Fu[Chartreuse][/Chartreuse]ckin refs.

Yeah, a good game. We didn't too many stupid penalties and that helped us. Game 6 in Edmonton...can't wait.

Edit: needed a T.
