I'm not sure how to feel....cause i'm 100% completely confused.

Do the creaters of south park really hate family guy?
Did comedy central really refuse to show mahamid(sp)?
Or was this all just a reaction to them having to pull the church of scientologist ep, and chef quiting?

All and all I found it funny, even though I love family guy.

Yes I was thinking there had to be a 3rd part coming... oh well, it was, an ending. Not really one of the best though I must say.

I agree, this episode wasn't all that great, save for the bigwheel chase scene, and the cartman/kyle clash.

I'm still wondering myself if Comedy Central really did refuse to show mohammed or not. Having the scene cut, through CCs doing or as a joke by south park, either way, i was stunned.

I honestly want to know if CC stopped them from showing it or not. I tend to think not, I assume that it was in response to CC not letting them reair the church of scientologist ep a couple weeks ago and chef quiting.

But yeah, my favorite part was the intro of the 2nd ep...I still remember when they did that in season 2.

What, was there not a second episode? I'm a bit confused, I saw one episode, but not sure which one. I guess I'll have to record both tomorrow.

It was an ok episode. I did think they were getting a little convoluted with their satire, though.

Sounded like they were just knocking family guy out of jealously, if you ask me. The South Park creators probably just aren't happy that they no longer have the most popular edgy cartoon of the day. I mean, complaining that family guy's jokes are arbitrary? That sounds out of character for the South Park guys. I was a bit surprised.

Yes CC did choose to censor the image. Hence the immediate retaliation showing a bunch of americans and Jesus shi[red][/red]tting all over each other and the flag. I'm sure Matt and Trey don't hate Family Guy, it was just a part of the plotline.

I have to say that I believe this to be the funniest episode i've ever seen (part two, not one). The ending was fantastic and these guys still continue to push the envelope after all these years.

The question is, will Mohammed be shown on the DVD's?

According to this guy who interviewed someone at comedy central, they did force censor. But in the Super Best Friends episode (and in the opening credits) you can see Mohammed. He's the one with the flame power, and he does his part to build the giant John Wilkes Booth.

Oh well, who knows, the Super Best Friends episode aired a while back and there was no problems over it.

Nah, I don't think SP creators hate FG. Did you listen to Cartman's little spiel? I'm guessing the writers are fed up with friends and fans asking if they like FG, because people draw similarities between the shows. Just seemed to me to be the writers trying to draw a distinction between the two shows and comedy styles. I found it rather funny.

Edit: In regards to Chef leaving, I heard from a friend that he left for health reasons and not the scientology bs. Apparently the scientology lawyers issued a press release without his consent or something to that effect. Sounds like a crappy way to try to make their religion into a big media issue and perhaps garner sympathy. Those people seem to stop at nothing.

Banned by Comedy Central from showing an image of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, the creators of "South Park" skewered their own network for hypocrisy in the cartoon's most recent episode.

The comedy -- in an episode aired during Holy Week for Christians -- instead featured an image of Jesus Christ defecating on President Bush and the American flag.
[...]
Parker and Stone were angered when told by Comedy Central several weeks ago that they could not run an image of Muhammad, according to a person close to the show who didn't want to be identified because of the issue's sensitivity.

The network's decision was made over concerns for public safety, the person said.

Comedy Central said in a statement issued Thursday: "In light of recent world events, we feel we made the right decision." Its executives would not comment further.

As is often the case with Parker and Stone, they built "South Park" around the incident. In Wednesday's episode, the character Kyle is shown trying to persuade a Fox network executive to air an uncensored "Family Guy" even though it had an image of Muhammad.

"Either it's all OK, or none of it is," Kyle said. "Do the right thing."

The executive decides to strike a blow for free speech and agrees to show it. But at the point where Muhammad is to be seen, the screen is filled with the message: "Comedy Central has refused to broadcast an image of Muhammad on their network."

I think their point would have a little more merit if it was specifically against some form of christianity to depict Jesus defecating on George Bush and the american flag.

But that's just a minor quibble though. As far as pulling things from the show simply on the grounds that it will offend people, their point stands pretty well.

Not to single you out but I read in a Time that Matt and Trey really don't like Family Guy. Same as with the Simpson's creator Matt Groening. Even in one of the Simpson's epidsodes the writers call the Family Guy staff plagiarizers. More info here

In the interview with Matt and Trey they said that the FG writers were unoriginal. I can't remember what the date on the magazine was but it was in the last couple months I believe. It was one of the 10 Questions for segments.

I didn't really like the first episode, but the 2nd one got it's point across rather well.

Comedy Central had no problem airing the segment that had Jesus, "W", Kaitie Holmes, and the cast of "***** Eye" ******** all over each other and the American flag, yet refused to show Mohommad handing "Peter Griffin" A football helmit with a hearing on it.

Says who?

Well, says the folks on SP apparently but what's the support for this beyond "we want to make fun of stuff"?

They're pissed that their Scientology episode won't get re-aired.

It's also pretty hypocritical that they can show Jesus crapping all over George Bush and the American Flag, but can't show Mohammad giving Peter Griffin a hearring on top of a football helmit.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the last seasons of Southpark. It's been on for about 8 years, and until this season, I don't think Comedy Central has pulled any episodes or censored it.

Admittadly, I can understand why the image of Mohammad was censored. However, as the show said, who's to stop the next group from getting a future episode pulled or censored if they find it offensive?

As it stands:

Muslims and Scientologists: Not ok to make fun of.

Christians, Jews, poor people, white people, black people, hispanic people, asian people, republicans, democrats, gay people, retarded people, and handicapped people: Ok to make fun of.

Well, if they're that worked up about it, they can quit after this season and take up making shows and distributing them via the internet. But they won't, because they have a cushy contract with Viacom and everytime they're told "no" they get to raise a fuss and get a lot of free press from 'taking a stand' by showing Jesus take a leak.

Of course, Comedy Central gets its share of the pie as well. It's not as if Trey & Parker slipped one past them with this episode. The Powers That Be knew exactly that South Park was going to "stick it to them" with this and knew everyone would eat it right up. Yay for ratings and free press!
