However, at a speech in an Oakland union hall, the 2004 Democratic presidential candidate sought to tie Bush to a much tougher House bill that would tighten borders and make it a crime to be in the United States illegally or to offer aid to illegal immigrants. Bush does not back the House bill.
WTF is wrong with this guy? Is he so entirely disconnected from reality that he doesn't grasp that it's already a crime if it's illegal?
For those who consistently wonder what made so many people vote for Bush twice, it's things like this. If people like this hate the man, then I want him in office. I want them to have a focus, something that holds their attention with BugZapper-like intensity because I have a dreadful fear of the impact they would have on society if they got bored and there was a pack of matches lying around.
I am prejudiced. I like Hispanics. They are mostly Catholic, generally have good work ethic, keep a good healthy looking skin tone year-round, and can be counted on to be more polite than your average anglo or afro. I wish I were a beaner, but I'm just not cut out for it; I'm too rude, lazy, and pale. I do have the dark hair, though.
As far as the issue itself goes, I'm all for relaxing immigration laws and letting the people come in but I expect the trend to be the opposite. The parties are going to get together and spend a lot of money on walls and barbed wire. Probably some dogs, too.
