Unless you don't agree with Bush.. What are we doing in Iraq again? Oh yeah, that's right, setting up another Hamas situation.

US diplomats would still be allowed to contact Mr Abbas, his personal office and non-Hamas members of the Palestinian parliament, but America is trying to either sideline Hamas or force it to recognise Israel, renounce violence and abide by peace accords.

The group, which won Palestinian elections in January, is considered a terrorist organisation by the US.

I'm guessing that's why. No surprise. It's in line with the current policy.

Woah woah woah woah ...... slow the f[Aqua][/Aqua]uck down!

The Bush administration has a policy when it comes to the whole Israeli/Palestinian situation? I thought he was going for the whole "I'm not competent enough to handle this issue" angle (other than the limp wristed 'road map to peace' attempt)?

Apparently.

Quote:
Since the triumph of Hamas, the Bush administration has taken what appears to be a hard line. Washington's mantra is "no recognition, no dialogue, and no financial aid" to a Hamas-led PA until Hamas recognizes Israel, renounces violence and terror, and accepts all previous Palestinian-Israeli agreements.

OMG! A terrorist organization took power, bring down the hard line!!!

Nevermind that it was the Bush administration dropping the ball when it came to the mid-east peace process when they came into power in 2000 that allowed Sharon to use fear mongering to oust Ehud Barak as leader of Israel and take a hard line against palestinians. Which lead to an increase support of Hamas which has strong and active social programs such as schools and hospitals in Palestine and helps foster a stronger more confrontational palestinian identity. All while the US weakened the power base of Fatah.

Dude. Are you suggesting that the Bush admin take responsibility for that? Because I'll have you know that's also against current policy.

Who needs 'the last guy' when there is the 'War Against Terror'?
