You guys know we don't have a time limited ban button right? It's kind of an all or nothing deal.

Most of this recent crop has not been puppets. Which is actually quite terrifying if you think about it, because it isn't an act for them...

Live ammo FTW, then!

You should get an IP bannination table that you can include a date with. That would allow you to enter a date when teh IP is no longer banninated.

How about an admin-nuke,then? Something. I hardly ever have time to stop by anymore and even when I do, it's unbearable.

In.

I really dislike overmoderation, and I do think the admins are doing a decent job moving posts to the applicable forums.

Ignore them. They'll go away. They always do.

The other thing is, once in a while one of the flood of newcomers stays around long enough to develop some skin, and a personality.

Not signed, yet.

You know, your logical and patient responses are not welcome here. We like a good knee-jerk, impulsive and emotional outcry here. Please conform, or prepare to go on the ballot.

What about setting their karma to zero for one week (after which it would be returned to it's initial value)?

I suppose people could request not to *see* the posts ever (even if not filtering) so perhaps a special (unattainable) karma value could be set (I don't know, -1 or infinity or whatever) for one week, with the added code which makes these posts (with this special karma value) simply not display, or display as "banned".

I assume there would be a poll each week for next week's ban victim? Who would make the poll? Who would select the poll options? I figure that has to be "us" (or "you")...

Well, what's really needed is an "/ignore poster" feature, but that's not possible or practical at the present time.

Kao says the current flood is not made up of socks, so I say deal with them the way we deal with any annoyingly stupid poster: ignore them, flame them, and/or rate them down out of sight.

We should just have a separate forum where We could post and not have to worry about they interfering.

We could call it the Sanctuary.

At the risk of being the first, i object (in part) to the proclimation. Only so far in that i do not think the ban should extend to other areas of Allakhazam. Banned from the asylum - yes!!! But bannings from other areas goes against the whole idea of an online forum.

You should be banninated for being a complete ******** regardless of any poll. If you can't be bothered to read the thread, then don't bother to reply because it will only make you look more asinine than your weak *** post already does.
