And for god's sake, wipe your *** better. You stink!
Who gives a rat's *** about Revelations and the ten million ways you can interpret that acid dream? People have been predicitng the end of the world as long as there have been people. The God of the bible didn't create us; we created him.
Quote:
And Man said, Let us make Gods in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
As far as a one-world government goes; there are two prime likelihoods: man will unite under a single government (likely) or man will have continued strife between many governments (unlikley). It's obvious to me that the former IS happening and will continue to move forward sans some tragic conflict where weapons of *** destruction are involved.
The former is far more likely because so long as man does not eliminate himself from this planet in such large numbers that civilization goes into a decline forced by the inevitably of non-specialization amongst a reduced population, the technology will continue to exist and be available that makes distance a minor factor in international relations. Therefore, so long as there are lots of people, we will continue to move towards a single unified world government; it is an obvious step forward regardless of how many individuals want to scream and pull their hair over it.
In short, globalization and world-flattening are both facets of technology. So long as that technology remains available shall those facets be evident.
Hell, half the reason we're spilling blood in the sand right now is to establish and hold the ability to put massive numbers of troops anywhere in the world with rapid deployment. The better the technology of transportation becomes, the fewer military bases are needed in places like Iraq. But that's tomorrow's solution and this is today's battle. So the US is in Iraq until tomorrow's solution comes along.
When the world unites under a single government, that sort of deployment will be an existing technology. The government will be one that somewhat resembles in structure that of the dominant world power of the moment, the USA, but it won't be the government of the USA.
Try The United States of Europe for a decent, but short read. It shows how far along the path we really are; further than many would believe. Over time, there will be further and further consolidation until we are all answering to the same government...and it's a good thing. Don't fight it.
