It is Canadians.
So Canadians have taken over operations in Kandahar in Afghanistan. It is part of the transition from US led multinational Operation Enduring Freedom to a NATO lead multi national operation. The goal is to reinforce the new government at the provincial level assisting in the stabilization and development of the region. So Canada has stepped up its involvement and moved 2,300 troops and more humanitarian aide.
However in the first month or so we had a couple soldier attacked. One was attacked with an axe by a village leader. One died in a vehicle accident. So we get off to a shaky start and what happens. All of a sudden there is a push to get out of Afghanistan. It is pathetic, infantile and knee jerk reactionary. Everything Canada is not. Here we signed on to a leading role in a mission to help rebuild a country that really is worth fighting for Afghanistan. This isnt some questionable war like Iraq. A couple of bad things and people want to pull out.
I am as liberal as the next gay cowboy movie watching tree hugging baby killing hippy however this is just f'ucking ridiculous. This is a case of idiot canucks with no sense of national identity greater than Tim Hortons trying to liken the situation to that of the US in Iraq especially now that we have a Conservative leader. Even though all the planning, promises and all the rest of the groundwork was done under the Liberal govt.
