I know what your contribution to the Boston Allafest could be:

A 184-proof whisky, and that's no blarney
LONDON (AFP)
— Following a 17th century recipe, one of the eight artisanal whisky producers on the tiny Scottish isle of Islay will produce a dozen barrels of 184-proof whisky, the company announced.

That's 92% alcohol, which is about as strong as whisky can get without being sold in a pharmacy.

"The first taste affects all the members of the body," a 1695 description of the elixir reads. "Two spoonfuls of this last liquor is a sufficient dose — if any man should exceed this, it would presently stop his breath, and endanger his life."

The Bruichladdich distillery said it would install webcams so that customers thirsty with anticipation could watch the potentially lethal concoction come into being.

"If the distillery doesn't explode during the process," Bruichladdich added.

I'd watch the webcams for that.

There's nothing quite like death in a bottle.

Or about as strong as the furniture stripper in my garage, that I use to take varnish off of wood.

Does this stuff come with a warning label not to smoke around it?

I wonder if 92% alcohol is hydroscopic enough to dilute the whiskey over time. I'd be pissed if I was losing "proof" every time I opened the bottle.

Wow when I was 12 I tried a 100 proof wiskey and promply passed out. I don't want to think of what this would do even if I am 17 now.

Now that sounds yummy.

Mind you, a whisky like that, I'd probably wuss out and down-size to half-pint glasses.

You people never had Everclear?

(Making jello shots with Everclear and not informing your guests until they've already eaten 6 should be a crime Smiley: glare)

Jello shots as a vehicle for liquor aren't as harmless as they seem.
