would anyone stop doing it if someday the other shows were no longer racially biased? Are you actually fighting racial bias by creating yet another show that's blatantly racially biased? Isn't that just perpetuating the problem?
Even more to the point, how do you *know* that the other shows are passing over black performers today? Will you know when that ceases to be a problem? As long as you have an NAACP awards people will always assume they're there because the other awards aren't fair or something, and no one will actually ever know for sure.
I guess what I'm saying is that the solution to a social problem in which a group of people are not being included with the rest is to fight for inclusion, not think it's all ok because they got their own award show...
So, basically your saying the playing field is even for white people over minorities? I don't think so few Black people have won oscars, they tend to slide one in every now and then. Just because we decided to host our own awards shows does not mean that only Black people can win. The award show include a lot of movies a,d/or actors/actresses that are over looked by award shows that constanly give a majority of the awards to White people. I am not saying that the award shows are racists, but there is still a biased against Black people. The oscars have been around for like Ithink 70 something years, and people have complained and fought, over and over, but still nothing drastic has changed.
Like I said before if the world was perfect we wouldn't have this problem. If there wasnt a NAACP awrds, or Vibe awards, or Ebony awards, a lot of people would be over looked for the recognintion that they deserve. It's been 70 yrs, things have changed but not much, it was time to give them the recognition.

Oh, and Halle Berry was the first black woman to win an Oscar for best actress.
Actually no she wasnt, Hattie Mcdaniel was first Black Woman to win an Oscar for best Actress in a leading role, Halee Berry was the 2nd since her to win that specific award, 64 yrs later and your complaining about a NAACP award show? lmao. http://members.aol.com/ttelracs/Hattie.htm

You either suck it up and fight to be included, or take your lumps and seperate on every point. I think we're all tired of this. Think of the outcry that would break out for an all-majority-ethnicity show, labled as such. We tried the separate thing, and nobody seemed to like that, so stop doing it.
Thats what the majority usually says, cause they would rather see Black people sitting on their *** doing nothing, biting there finger nails saying "When is massa, gone let me win, Law I sho hope I win dis time". Hell, if things were fair there wouldnt be a need for it, so dont complain about a show that where the majority of the winners are Black, because the only people complaining about the majority of the Oscars going to White people, are Black people.
So we had to do something for us, because it will NEVER be fair, it will always be that racists ****, thinking they dont want no Black person getting a certain award, they sometimes do not judge on talent, but judge on race.
Whenever the day comes when you wake up Black and have to deal with the **** we deal with, sometimes on and everyday basis then come talk to me about what is fair. Oh and Black people whether racially mixed or not out number White people in America, so there isn't any lack of good Black actors/actresses.

If you understood the why? Instead of just crying that it isnt fair, do some reading before you make an ignorant comment like that.
This is a quote from the website about WHY.
