Not just dogs or cats, either. To pet owners that actually love their pets and not just house them because their SO loves them, it doesn't matter what the animal actually is; it still has a personality of some sort.

I guess you just have allow yourself to get attached to a pet to understand why people make the big deal that they do over them.

It's still a loss, Moe.

No, it isn't the equivalent of losing a person; so if you're hung up on the more-tragic-than-thou sh*t you're never going to concede the point. That's fine; your concession is not necessary.

It only becomes an issue when someone makes it an issue. I understand the concept of loss and pain, but I like to think I have something approaching a sense of perspective. A kid ODs and dies in your arms on the way to the hospital, you kind of begin to look at things in a different light when discussing loss and the like. Blunt person that I am, I'm likely to point out silliness when I encounter it.

Your mistake is that you believe everyone's perspective is the same, or should be. We're not talking about objective experience, but the subjective experience that results. That's going to be different for every person.

A little old lady that loses her beloved dog is heartbroken. As heartbroken as a bereaved parent? I don't know; do you? If she's lost all she had, is that so different?

I know what you're going to say, or I suspect I do. It's okay. Everyone doesn't agree on everything.

Universal truth just is.

Its the difference between giving a sh;t about the bum on the corner and not, the difference between believing that everyone is entitled to the best health care available and not, the difference between believing that all life is sacred and not.

Some people get it, and some people never will. Fortunately, the Conservatives will be out of power in 2 years and we'll get to see what life is like when the liberals make us pay for the degenerates in the country.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty slick of me to be able to turn Nad's lease problems in to a right vs. left topic too.

Not so much "slick" as "straw man". Smiley: laugh

To quote you, Moe - "They're just cats".

I'm not going to be heartbroken and become totally inconsolable if I'm not able to keep them, lol. But yes, I've got an attachment to them, so I don't want to see them sent to the gas chamber. Ideally, I'd like to find someone around here that would take them for me, but we've asked everyone that we know to be animal people, and no dice.

Feck off, you. I have hijacked this thread, and no attempts to re-track it will succeed!

Nice tits.

Fact - If you hit a cat over the head hard enough with a mallet, it's eye's will pop out of their sockets.

Probably true for a human as well. Definitely true for a Pekingese - you don't even have to hit them (though really - why not?).

I would have a tough time balancing with tits myself. I have no idea how you ladies do it. Not only would the throw the center of gravity off, they would be distracting as hell.

They can be very distracting. Bumping them into things, sometimes shirts don't fit right... bleh.

but yes, all women secretly sit around when they're alone and play with them. And then have pillow fights.

You don't need to consult a woman here. Consult Codyy, he'll tell you how to cope with man-tits.

Another thing to think about is they may not care if you have the cats, but they refuse to return your security deposit when you leave.
