The fight was slated when an angry fan contested Yang Sihamoni, President of the CMFL, claiming that one lion could defeat his entire league of 42 fighters.
The Cambodian Government allowed the fight to take place, under the condition that they receive a 50% commission on each ticket sold, and that no cameras would be allowed in the arena.
I guess as long as they are making a little money off the deal the Cambodian Government is cool with Midget Mauling.
The fight was called in only 12 minutes, after which 28 fighters were declared dead, while the other 14 suffered severe injuries including broken bones and lost limbs, rendering them unable to fight back.
Pretty messed up all around. Is the UN human rights commitee aware this kind of thing is going on? Or is the fact that someone might have to stay in an uncomfortable position during interrogation in Gitmo just too distracting?

I wouldn't have bothered, but it appears the OP took it seriously. It's a well-known hoax. Or I thought it was well known.
Some people are like slinkies, they aren't really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
I'd say twenty something midgets could beat a lion. A lion is fast and vicious but there is strength in numbers. While the lion mauls one or two midgets the others could start to pin it. Most importantly, would be to try to take out the lions eyes. I think this could be accomplished during the initial decimation the lion would exhibit. The midgets have little fingers good for poking things. Also, it might be a good idea to try and pull off the genitals to get the lion in severe pain but, this will obviously cause the lion to react very vengefully to whomever is brave enough to try such a task. Once the the lion is semi pinned, sight less and genital less, there should be about 10 midgets left to start beating the stomach to cause internal bleeding and eventual death.

I would think that several dozen midgets could do some hurt, as stated, even without weapons of any kind.

I once knew this midget wrestler who probably could at least poke a lion's eye out. Get a few midgets together and they could at least weigh the lion down so it couldn't move around as much(dozen midgets who were morbidly obese would probably be enough weight). Then you just have a dozen more midgets take a few whacks at the lion with their midget sticks and you could the lion would get tired of munching on obese midgets after a bit. Though if it ate enough obese midgets it could just die of a heart attack which is sort of the same as the midgets winning in the end.
Such a story probably could be made into a nice disney movie if they made the lion talk a bit.
