It all makes sense now...Follow

You may remember my recent posts about my ear/sinus congestion (and accompanying swelling in my throat) and nearly losing my cats.

Well, I went and got tested for allergies and it turns out that I have a pretty severe cat allergy. Symptoms include ear congestion, sinus pressure, swelling of lymph nodes, etc. The rating scale basically breaks down into 0-5 with 0 being no allergy and 5 being the most severe allergy. I'm a 4/5 for cats. I also had 2/5 for dog, dust, marsh elder, and pigweed.

I don't have any of the typical symptoms you think of for animal allergies (itchy skin, watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, etc), just these odd-ball ones.

Anyway, I'm going to start getting allergy shots that should clear it up or at least make a significant difference. It takes about 6 months of 1 shot/week to build up your resistance to the allergens, but I've been trying to figure out what is wrong with me for 2 years so this is great news! I no longer worry that I have something seriously wrong with me!

This is just their ploy, you know. The cats. The shots actually allow them to control you. The doctors are all in on it.

You could just kill the cats. All of them. Today I'd let you start with mine. Filthy little focker kicked litter out of the box.

Seems overkill. If you read the thread about me almost losing them, you will see that the cats are already firmly in control around here.

One of ours didn't understand the litter box for a long time. He'd stand inside it with his feet in the litter but the "business end" would be hanging over the edge and he'd go in the floor. Then, he'd try to bury it by scraping all the litter out of the box into the floor onto his pile. We ended up having to get a litter box where the door is on top.

I'm a 5/5 with cats. If a person owns a cat and I sit near them my throat and ears begin to feel itchy, then my lungs start to close up. If I do not get out of the environment quickly, I can die. Smiley: frown

Needless to day I don't have any cats, and if they try to come near me they get aquainted with the end of my boot pretty fast.

I have to consider a breed's dander production when I get one, simply because I have similar symptons to you. Throat swelling et al. We had over 30 when I was a kid. I also was rather unhealthy then.

I have one that is most likely either Korat or Russian Blue. I get some slight skin irritation once in a while if I touch him.

Where can you find out the dander production of a specific breed?
