Story here.

Quote:
BALTIMORE -- At least one Baltimore mother has told her son not to do a specific homework assignment.

The homework was assigned last week to a fourth-grade class at Samuel Coleridge Taylor Elementary School, reported WBAL-TV.

Musthapha Muhummad's mother, Kenyona Moore, said the assignment teaches about being a robber, and she has questions for the school district.

The assignment was apparently designed to help students with comprehension, reported the television station.

Students were supposed to read the instructions about how to do a magic trick, but Moore said there was nothing magic about what he brought home.

I remember learning this card trick as a kid. All I cn think is the Mom feels guilty for where she lives.

Edit because I just notice my post count.

Not last night, but the night before
24 Robbers came knocking at my door
As I ran out
They ran in
Hit me on the head with a rolling pin

Spanish dancer turn around
Spanish dancer touch the ground
Spanish dancer give a high kick
Spanish dancer get out before you miss

On the first page, the assignment asks students to get a deck of cards and imagine that the four jacks are robbers, and they're going to rob a house.
Back in the other room
The boys finally made it through the wall
And cleaned out the bank safe;
It's said they got off quite a haul.
Over by the riverbed, they waited underground
For one more member who had business back in town
For they couldn't go anywhere
Not without the Jack of Hearts...

"I don't believe this," Moore said. "This story is telling him how to rob a house, how to play cards and that he will also need a lookout for when the police come, and what to do when the police come."
Not exactly a primer for crime Smiley: dubious

...

"This is ridiculous; this is a fourth-grader. Why should he have any knowledge of robbing someone's house or how to look out for the police? Because he's in the inner city, don't assume he's been exposed to these kinds of things," Moore said.

I don't remember this card trick but, I don't understand how this story is informing the child about criminal knowlegde? If you're too stupid to actually rob something/someone without a lookout, then you deserve more than just jail time. If she's bit[/b]ching about the content, then I am sure one can find more offensive material in everyday cartoons.
