Imagine (or remember) living in a strange country that doesn't stock the day to day items that you're used to in the stores.

When I first went to live in Spain I'd happily walk an hour and a half to a bar that served Brooke-Bond PG Tips Tea. (Stereotypically English but there y'go)

I knew a guy from Cali back in the 70s that would drive 120 miles to the only place in England where he could find Bick's Corn Relish (It's everywhere now.

So what product would you miss if you had to live overseas?

Poutine
Molson Canadian Beer
Bacon
Smoked Beef Jerky

While in Korea, I also missed luxuries like real beef and sit-down toilets.

Not that I'd really miss it because I don't eat it that much, but this thread gave me a craving for some poke salet with eggs.

i travelled a fair amount in the last 9 years and my three items on the wish list are:

Decent bread
Bacon
Salad Cream

It's not so bad in Europe but try getting decent bread in Belize.

In China I had trouble getting any drink at less than room temperature. Not sure if that is a China thing or other places too.

Good sushi.

I can't even move out of Califonia, let alone the U.S., because of IN N OUT.

Good authentic Mexican food.

Moxie.

Ok not really. I guess I can't think of anything in particular. I will say that it was hard to find graham crackers in England, and it took me ages to find molasses since they call it something else (treacle I think)?

When we visit, my husband always gets some Turkish Delight since he misses that over here, and I always want a good cream tea since you can't get clotted cream over here.

Moxie is like those candy wafers that you only see at holloween. It's gross no one likes it, but it stays.

Necco's - those are the candy. *blech, blech, blech*

I'd miss coffee from Maine Coffee Roasters - there is none better.

Toilet paper.

I hear that all those undeveloped countries like England, Somalia, and Papua, New Guinea use leaves, sticks, and their fingers to clean off their poo.

Poor savages. Even worse, those loyal Queen's subjects drink their beer warm. How barbaric!

When I was in Australia I missed regular coffee. All they had was the instant shit, so I had the folks mail me 2 big cans of Hills Brothers French Roast. The other thing I missed the most was A1 steak sauce. Especially with the flavor of meat they had down under. They mixed mutton in just about everything.

When I moved up north, the first thing I missed was ordering sweet tea when I was out. I ordered one at an Applebees and the waitress said "we have raspberry instant tea?" Uhm....just no.

Then I promptly missed good fried chicken, and other such southern staples.

Oddly enough, I was buying French Market Coffee with chicory at a grocery store up there. I just love the stuff. I get down here, and you can't find it anywhere anymore. I am sure it has to do with Katrina, but why would they have it in NY and not in MS? Go figure.

Hmm...down here I can't get a good cheese steak or perogies. I guess all places have their pros and cons.

I'd be unhappy to travel anywhere that didn't serve real coffee. No, instant coffee is not real, any more than powdered milk is like real milk.

Other than that, I think I'm pretty flexible.
