Police said their probe had spread to Britain and that they had talked by telephone with British-born Neil Entwistle after he left the United States last week. But they added that he was not a suspect in the killings

This is a strange story and no mistake.

He made contact with the Police before flying to England and contacted the british police on arrival.

Both US and British Authorities keep emphasising that he's not under arrest and not a suspect.

Today he voluntarily went to the US Embassy.

This one has me fascinated. Tragic, but mysterious. /strokes beard.

A US embassy spokeswoman said: "At the request of authorities in Massachusetts and in co-operation with British authorities the embassy has agreed to provide a facility for the questioning of Neil Entwistle regarding the deaths of his wife and children.

"Mr Entwistle is not charged with nor suspected of any federal crime."

The latest BBC Bulletin says the US authorities describe him as "A potential witness"

WTF is going on here?

How can he be a possible witness if he wasn't even there. Cover-up, conspiracy, this has my interest. Good find.

Nobody has claimed he wasn't there

My theory (I know ... and you are? .. Who are you?) is that the authorities hope to make him believe that his is only a "potential witness" or "person of interest" and not a "suspect" and hope he feels comfortable enough to come to U.S. for the funerals and THEN arrest him and charge him. No messy extradition hearing then. Much less proof required to charge and hold him than to get him extradited.

They stated they are not going to do anything over the weekend or release any statements regarding the interviews. The wake/funerals are Tuesday and Wednesday.

No matter what he's in a no-win situation. If he comes back I'm sure they will hold him and if he doesn't then he looks like he doesn't care about his family and has something to hide. Unless he plays the "people who were out to get me did it and I'm afraid to return for fear that I'm next" card.

Will be interesting to see how this pans out.

This makes me unspeakably sad. That was a beautiful baby, and a shot to the stomach is one of the most painful, horrid ways to die.

Back here we just had a mother who beat her baby daughter so bad she (the daughter) choked in her own vomit. What's wrong with people?

I just hope they find the fucker and lock him up for good. Baby-killers aren't popular in prisons and I hope he finds out before they put him in isolation (I assume it's a male offender unless the mother killed herself and the baby).

And I don't have a spiffy comment to this thread. I have been gone for too long and the death of a mother and her baby isn't something I wish to make fun of. It's just sad.

Sometimes the news is so disgusting, it should not be reported. Just when you think you have heard the worst things humans can do to one another, something else comes along to top it..

Dunno so much about that. If the gun had been found in the room I would have suspected the baby of a murder-suicide.

****** parents abound.

Recently a drug-addicted couple attempting an escape from the law, ran off into the Maine woods with their 2 daugters, both under 3.

The father turned himself in a few hours later. Guess he got cold. The mother was found 6 or 8 hours later and treated for exposure. Finally, after an evening and entire night outside, the two girls were found about a mile away from where the mother was picked up.

They survived but only because it happened to be an unseasonably warm night with the temp only bottoming out at 29 degrees.

Unfathomable. Smiley: disappointed

It was a week or two ago, story can be found with a quick search of any mainstream Maine news source.
