I happen to work for a company that has been making record profits year after year, yet oddly, every year when the managers receive their budgets for the coming year, they start warning the staff that the raises will be skimpy. . . again. Ever worked for a company where the managers apologize when they give out raises because they're embarassingly small? Where is that extra money going? Well, the CEO earns enough between salary and bonuses to get his salary published in the newspapers every year. The dollar figures are pretty obscene. Yes, I choose to continue working there. I actually like my job and the department I work in.
As to the original topic, I work for a mortgage banking company. They pressure us very hard to bank with them. They stopped doing automatic payroll deposits for anyone with an outside bank account as additional pressure. We've also gotten angry chats from the President that we are not showing proper company loyalty and pride if we bank elsewhere. Frankly, I have no interest in allowing my employer to have constant access to my checking account.
