You know, Gbaji tried to make this claim too, but it does not necessarily follow in corporate America that when the company makes a profit, so do the employees.

I happen to work for a company that has been making record profits year after year, yet oddly, every year when the managers receive their budgets for the coming year, they start warning the staff that the raises will be skimpy. . . again. Ever worked for a company where the managers apologize when they give out raises because they're embarassingly small? Where is that extra money going? Well, the CEO earns enough between salary and bonuses to get his salary published in the newspapers every year. The dollar figures are pretty obscene. Yes, I choose to continue working there. I actually like my job and the department I work in.

As to the original topic, I work for a mortgage banking company. They pressure us very hard to bank with them. They stopped doing automatic payroll deposits for anyone with an outside bank account as additional pressure. We've also gotten angry chats from the President that we are not showing proper company loyalty and pride if we bank elsewhere. Frankly, I have no interest in allowing my employer to have constant access to my checking account.

That's an interesting motivation. "Drive what you make, or you have to park across the street".

If someone put a requirement like this on you in your workplace (you had to use whatever your company produces, rather than a competitor), would you follow it or quit?
------------------------------------------

wouldnt need a requirement like this if the product was of suffecient quality.

that said, what does it matter anymore? Ford is closing 14 plants in this country, and moving most of the production to other countries. there will be only a hand full of Ford plants left here to park your car at anyway.

General motors is doing the same. they closed several plants, are firing over 25,000 people, and expanding their operations in Mexico and China. GM is the most popular vehical made and sold in China right now. you can bet that is where Ford is off to also.

my chevy avalanche was made in Mexico. Corvettes are made in Canada as well as the U.S.

let them try to instill pride in their product for theri workers while they have workers here in the U.S., its their company.

it is a shame that is the path most large companies are taking now, but i guess it would be a bigger shame to see them dissappear alltogether. ill continue to buy american no matter what country they are made in however. they may be a second rate product compared to Japanese cars, but untill i see a japanese muscle car with a blower sticking out of the hood, they will be first rate to me.
