I got up this morning and there was my daughter's big old duffle bag sitting in the hall, packed, locked and ready to accompany her to France where she'll be going to school.

I didn't assist in the packing at all. I trust she has a toothbrush, some money, lots of clean undies and stuff. She's travelling alone and there's no trusting adult waiting at the other end of the plane ride for her as there was with all her other trips abroad.

She's been away at college for the last year+, but it's seemed like more of an extended leave than actually leaving home.

I'm checking "raising my daughter" off my to do list. My nest is half empty. Smiley: cry

The up side is I've got the day off to hang out with her before she leaves tomorrow morning.

Best of luck to all you young'uns heading out into the world on your own. Don't forget to call home.

....before you even ask, NO, I'm not showing you her bewbies. She's all growed up now. That's her responsibility.

Then do the right thing and at least plant the suggestion in her impressionable little brain, damnit!

it seem,s to me you havent completed "raising my daughter" yet.

a young woman heading to a turmoil of muslim vs catholic hotbed, where the word "american" is greeted with disdain from both sides? alone?

just my openion, but it seems the only thing she has really learned is stupidity. the world is no longer open to us anymore, in case you havent been paying attention.

prey for her.

That would have been clever if there was any suggestion you had intended the irony.

As it is, you're simply a wannabe Nancy Pelosi clone who wouldn't waste the opportunity to bash the current state of the US on the world stage.

That link takes me to a message board of over two years ago. The point please?

The girl loves France, what can I say. She's a romantic - like her mother. Smiley: wink

She's spent lots of time there, has friends there and is fluent in the language. I don't prey or even pray but I'm sure will worry a bit from time to time.

She's going to the University of Toulouse. My biggest concern is she'll develope a taste for very expensive wine. C'est la vie.

Good for you, you are one of few parents that can understand when it's time to "let go" of your children for the most part. My own parents still haven't really learned this lesson...I had to go to school several years ago 2 states away just to have some freedom. So it seems you've raised her well.

Two years old, but it's still the same thing people are ******** about over France now. And frequenly when I google some issue that has the pubbies all up in arms, the first link I find is to the eminent Free Republic, where I can bask in their eloquent responses.

Letting go of ones' children is bittersweet achievement.

You must let them know you trust them, and have confidence in their character, as well as their abilities.

However you will be forever concerned as to their well being. If this "concern" can be achieved in such a way as to not be a total pain in the kids ass, then you have evolved as a parent.

I cant wait till my kids buy trailers of their own. Smiley: lol
