A filibuster is a radical tool. It's easy to see why Democrats are frightened of it. But from our perspective, there are some things far more frightening. One of them is Samuel Alito on the Supreme Court.

Pubs say he will bring balance to the courts.

It won't affect me really, but when he overturns Roe v. Wade, it's not going to stop women from having abortions. It'll just be more gruesome and less sterile, and probably in a seedy back-alley.

Nah, that wasn't my intent. I guess it's just silly, in my opinion, for the President to select someone to be on the supreme court.

The judges are suppossed to be unbaised, so I can't understand why they are selected by the President, who has to act bais to his party or face loss of support.

Probably because the earlier method of pissing into a shot glass from 30 yards the most accurately yeilded even worse results. Someone has to pick them. Might as well be the Executive with aproval from the Congress.

Oh wait, forget that lst part, that's not important, I forgot.

Wouldn't that pretty much be the definition of "unbiased" in this case?

Judges could be elected. That would make it democratic, but we'd end up with a bunch of handsome dumb judges.

I would have liked for one of the committee members to have asked Alito pointblank about his opinions and intentions concerning abortion rights. The question along with the disclaimer "no answer, means a no vote".

I know he could give a false answer but it's better than just avoiding the important questions all together.

Judges are supposed to interpret the constitution strictly that's it. Unlike Ginsburg judges are expected to recognize precedent not create it.

Wow, who sold you that line of bullshit?

Judes are supposed to make laws. That's what they do. It's theLegislature's job to recognize prescedent.

Negative that's the legislative branches job. The judicial branch (judges) interpret laws.

I'm quite sure you've drunk yourself stupid.

Hi.

I was offering a humerous vision of the characiture of liberal judges you belive is accurate.

Try to keep up.

Hire someone if it's too much.

The president is suposed to choose the memebers of the court because our founding fathers did not support a party system and frankly I don't think that they would be too pleased to have such nutters running around appointing people just because they were of the same party.

Silly liberals, the only way for there to be balance in the courts is to pack with bobbly-headed yes men that will do whatever the kin-er...president tells them. That way there are no silly fillibusters or argueing or voting on anything! Phh, who needs checks and balances anyway?
