Buy this book and read it. I am a 31 year old male and I bawl everytime I pick it up.

I am sad when people I know die but the fact that I will have to put to sleep my golden retrievers at some point in the next 5-10 years is brutal.

Anyone else get torn up more over a pet's death then an actual humans?

I've had to put a dog down in the past, one that was around for almost 15 years or so. I was sad, yes...but I don't think to the degree of sadness I felt when I buried my Grandmother. Hell, I don't think I was quite as sad as I was when I took my Dad to the airport so he could fly to Houston and then to Iraq for a year...

no thanks.

If I feel the need to bawl, I just look at a calendar and think about the fact that 31 isn't too far off for me anymoreSmiley: cry

For some of us, 31 is a memory Smiley: cry

To answer the OP, do I get to pick the person and the pet? Then sure, there's people whose deaths mean less to me than that of an animal. Not generally speaking though

Hell, all of my animals mean more to me than most people.

As entertaining as you all are, if I had to pick between my dog who will likely die in 5-7 years and yall, who will likely be here when I am dust, I'd take the dog every time.

Nothing personal, you know. He's just a hell of a dog.

Back in my day, dogs didn't exist. We threw sticks and imagined having them carried back to us.
