Facial Recognition Technology

You have to sign up with a fake e-mail and all that jazz.

Upload a straight-on, high-res photo of yourself and see what famous people you look most like.

I get Jason Biggs (68% match) and Andie Macdowell (~65%) on most photos.

No thanks. Whichever famous ******** I resemble can do without the character defamation.
#4 Jan 17 2006 at 7:33 AM Rating: Good
Who the fuck is Pedro Santana Lopes? (66%)
Ben Affleck (65%)
Albert Camus (64%) (WTF)
Kevin Spacey (64%)
Thomas Edison (62%)
Benecio Del Toro (62%)
George Harrison (61%)

My Girlfriend got
Beyonce Knowles (72%)
Bette Davis (71%) (huh?)
Madonna (68%)
Carrie Ann Moss (68%)
Anna Kourikova (66%)
Halle Berry (65%)
Courtney Cox (62%)

Dark backgrounds seem to skew results. I have dark hair and the background of my photo is dark so I got a lot of bald guy results.

I uploaded Sean Connery:
http://www.sean-connery.net/SecConneryFoto.gif

The facial recognition software picked him out, but only gave a 70% assurance for their selection. For someone who's so identifiable and who has such a wealth of headshots available, you'd think the software would be a little more certain of itself.

alright I redid it with another picture, I think the one I used last year for Nobbys thread, and got some results.

Ursela Andress at 61%
Elisha Cuthbert at 58% (NWS)
Vivien Leigh at 55%
GIllian Anderson at 52%

OK, this one is funny. I did a picture of me and my mom together. It was able to identify both of our faces without me manually having to mark either one and it matched us both with Hillary Duff.

I uploaded the results screen to my flickr page. You can click on 'All Sizes' at the top if you want to enlarge it.

EDIT: I just realized that, even though I am a guy, this thing has matched me with a female face on 3 of 4 pictures I have tried. Interesting.

I have wasted so much time on this it isn't even funny. I've spent at least an hour and a half uploading pictures.

Rate up for you!

First photo got me:
63% Aaliyah, who I look nothing like,
61% Sharon Stone, who I look nothing like,
58% Sofia Coppola, who I look nothing like.

Another pic turned up
53% Pearl S. Buck
50% Zhang Ziyi
49% Priyanka Chopra
46% Kim Basinger
45% Toni Morrison
43% Meryl Streep
42% Christina Ricci
42% Uma Thurman
42% Shania Twain
I'm thinking that they glom on to certain features. I have a very straight, thin nose and prominent cheekbones with asian-like eyes, so I can see the resemblance in certain individual features, but not overall.

Different pics turned up odd ones, like Yael Bar Zohar. Smiley: confused Who the heck is that? Not to mention 56% Mao Zedong. Leaders of communist nations unite!

Ursela Andress at 61% I can see it, in the shape of the face.
Elisha Cuthbert at 58% (NWS) The chin.
Vivien Leigh at 55% The wide-eyed doe look thing.
GIllian Anderson at 52% The eyes again, and general proportions of the face.

Not a single bad one! Go you!

Among a female Jewish German philosopher and some other unknowns, Viggo Mortensen and Eric Bana are high on the list of matches to my dork picture from a few years ago. I don't have very many decent pictures of myself currently, with goatee, glasses etc.
