Genetical Engineering debate in Hawaii
I see both sides of the argument here. The people who come up with these sorts of improvements hardly believe that anyone could oppose such amazing progress. Then there are those who fear for the public health, their own livelihoods, and public perception of the usage of bioengineered products.
My own concern lies more with the growing gap between success and failure in one of the most critical of basic need fulfillment categories that exists: food supply. If the only people who can financially succesfully produce foodstuffs for market are those who employ bioengineered products, then the last bastion of true independance is vanishing from the face of the planet. The Man surely has us under his heel when you cannot depend on the independant farmer to succeed without the use of products only available from massive companies. I could go on, but this one is hard to express and while my feelings are surely to the point, the words at my disposal are inadequate.
