WoW.....Follow

#52 Jan 14 2006 at 2:28 PM Rating: Good

I was all prepared to play WoW when my husband left, but now I have a much heavier course load this semester than I expected. I can't see having the time for it. I am taking 18 hours, three classes of which are honors level...since I was just accepted into the honors college I have never taken the honors classes before and I have no clue how much more difficult they are than regular classes. Two months from now I could be freaking out and pulling out my hair for all I know.

I've never been interested in the warcraft series and actually lol'd at my brother when he suggested i join the fun but after reading the many posts of ppl going from EQ to WoW or FFxi to WoW its sparked my interest. i cant wait to get home stateside to check out the game and see if it will be the roxxor. one question though, i love ffxi but whenever i play it feels like its a second job trying to farm and do other bs besides kill stuff.

holla

Ok, I lied. I decided to try it, but I cant get the stupid 10 day trial to download. This window pops up and then vanishes, even with my pop up blocker disabled. I suppose I will ***** with it later. Grrrr

Everyone is welcome to join us!

Molish, there's a Paladin Officer role for you if you join us. You know how to play a paladin far better than I do - I am embarrassed to say on some of more recent disastrous runs (just did Gnomeregan for our high 20s and low 30s toons) I forgot many of the tactics you mentioned.

Spec-wise, I decided to go with the common build of holy/retribution. I did holy protection on my old 47 pally. So I thought it would be a nice change of pace.

But essentially, I know I could learn a lot from you or at least be reminded of some of the things that until now I completely forgot about. Join us and teach me, sensei!

Katie, I played DAOC when it first came out and played it for 6 months. I know we'd love to have you come over and try WoW out with us. It was fun grouping with you in EQ for a brief period of time a few months back.

Like a lot folks, I'm sure you will really, really dig WoW if you give it a try.

It was really fun to see some Asylumites playing EQ with the Aude Sapere crowd, but I think the only one that we got to play regularly was Kastigir. Either way, I look forward to the hijinx.

I'm too lazy to browse all the WoW forums. Any good links to class write-ups?

Fileplanet isn't a huge fan of Firefox, apparently. When I use their site, I always have to use IE. Maybe try that?

People should download DAoC if you like PVP

Katie, I played DAOC. I had a 50 Necromancer and had done PvP extensively in RvR. I can safely say that Battlegrounds in World of Warcraft are 10x more exciting. Arathi Basin and Alterac Valley Battlegrounds are truly a blast.

Bah, I don't know if I could get used to asking people if they want to fight. I know we all complain about the ganking in PvP but deep down in our hearts I think PvP is funner and more challenging.

I leveled 1-60 with an Orc Warlock on a PvP server. Leveling on a RP Normal server is just about the greatest thing. Not only is grinding/questing just a breeze now also when I do go to battlegrounds against these untested PvE kiddies I complete wipe the floor with them.

It is like playing on easy mode and I LOVE it.

is it normal to be able to play WoW for 4-4.5 hours and be a lvl 8 human mage with all current spells and the best NPC-sold cloth armor that silver and copper can buy? (thinking of getting my staff upgraded soon though)

(that's right, I, a FFXIer, downloaded the 10-day trial to see what the fuss is about).

Ouch. It seems that I have been put in my place. I can't compete with unoriginality and horrible grammar. You, sir, are a flamer the likes of which rivals the great Smasharoo.

Ok, I seem to have figured it out with IE and I am currently downloading. Well, waiting in line to download anyway. I don't even know if WoW will run with this crapola video card I have, but maybe it will. I also am willing to bet I quit three weeks into classes like I did with FFXI. But hey, maybe I will be too much of an addict by that point *shrug*

Edited because I don't know what tense I am writing in at 1 in the morning.

I'm glad that somebody caught the double meaning.

Think about it though. The foppish hair, the liberalness, the whole "being gay" thing. It wasn't much of a secret.

He was around about a month ago briefly. Haven't seen the great one since then. Place just isn't the same around here without him.

I'd be happy to share what little tidbits of wisdom I do have with ya. I just gotta know a few things about what server you all play on.

1) How many active do you have usually around 5pm-midnight?
2) How long are the queue lines to get on usually?
3) Average levels of the guild?
4) Have you successfully run Uldamin yet?

Reasons

1) My usual play time
2) I already have a 200-500 queue wait sometimes (when it’s bad)
3) 30-ish will make it easy for me to catch up in about 2-3 days
4) A BIG indicator of how well the guild works together. It’s the first instance that is a decent party-style challenge. You find your people who actually listen, and those who are only there for their own glory. The latter will get you fucking wiped every time. ESPICALLY with the end boss. Good god, I've run it with a party that had a lvl 60 druid and wiped 3 times. Ran it yesterday with my guild between level 40-44 That knew how to play their jobs and fucking LISTENED to someone who's been through it about 50 times, and we aced that giant fuck.

Fu
ckin A, if I do come this will be Paladin #5 for me.

For the light!

1) What time zone? I usually play 9:00pm - 1:00 and we have 4-10 people on CST weeknights
2) I have never been higher than 20 on ShC.
3) 25-35 with plenty outside those ranges I would say
4) Not enough high enough to do it yet.

We do instances and have wiped plenty of times. When instructions are given I have seen people usually listen. We have quite a few noobs and people are on a learning curve. We have fun when we do them though, and to this point, that has been established as the premier goal of this guild.

PM me re: tone and I'll share with you some of the more interesting portions of my philosophy as it applies to a board guild.

If all of that sounds good to you, you're more than welcome.

I know this is out of place, and also kind of dumb, but if I don't ask I won't be able to sleep tonight.

Do the premium members of this site have a guild, or is there just a clique of top posters who play WoW together, or what?

I can't speak for anywhere else on the site, but under Smoggy's initiative, a guild for Asylum posters has been started on Shadow Council. Anyone who posts here with any regularity, has not been deemed to be an unbridled sh;t troll (with the exception of Bhodi, 'cuz he just won't go away) or their significant others and screened RL friends is welcome to give us a try. We will know pretty easily whether its a fit or not, as will you.
