The Landlord, The Tenant, and The Wardrobe...Follow

Quote:
An Italian man 'mummified' the body of his 71-year-old mother when she died, stashing it away in the bedroom wardrobe three years ago and sealing it with silicone gel.

The grisly secret was kept until this week, when the landlord stumbled upon the "house of horrors" during a routine check of the rented property near the north Italian town of Aqui Terme.

He first found the body of the 35-year-old son, Mirko Sartori, who police said was killed while working on his car.

It is just hard to find good renters these days.

No! I will not hide in the fruit cellar! Ha! You think I'm fruity, huh? I'm staying right here. This is my room and noone will drag me out of it, least of all my big, bold son!

Is there a run on preserving dead people this week? First the enviromentally unfriendly family wasting electricity and now a son who used his mom in lieu of moth balls. I just don't understand some people.

This seems to be talked about alot atm. I read an article yesterday about an old woman who lived in the upstairs flat of the house (lower flat was lived in by her daughter and her family) who must have died sometime last year or so and the old womans caretaker left her there without telling of the death. People only found out that there was a dead body in the upstairs flat when a/c unit stopped functioning and it started to smell.

Sheesh what in the world are these people thinking?!?

I remember reading a few years ago about a German lady who died and no one knew it until her bank account ran out. She lived alone, didn't know anyone, and had all her bills auto-drafted from her bank account. When the money ran out someone finally decided to start looking for her.

I think she had been dead for over a year.

Aye, Mearyk, I do know what you mean. However your post was not on the page when I was reading the thread originally. But we do speak of the same article and instance. ^^

Something like that happened in my neighborhood. A caregiver was watching an elderly woman. Apparently, the elderly woman died of natural causes while she was gardening. Instead of doing the proper thing and telling the authorities, the caregiver buried the woman in cement in the backyard. The caregiver wanted to collect the social security checks, so everytime the woman's family would call they would get the runaround. Finally, they stopped by to find the caregiver and her new boyfriend living in their relative's home. Of course, they had a plethora of questions. It was pretty interesting watching the CSI units slowly uncovering the truth and then uncovering the block of cement with the dead woman's body.
