STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Swedish police caught a burglar after he answered a phone he had just stolen and did not hang up, letting them eavesdrop on his getaway ride in a taxi.

The man broke into a house in Overtornea in the far north of Sweden, stealing a mobile phone and other possessions.

The police rang the stolen phone and heard him swearing about the late arrival of a taxi which he had ordered to take him to neighboring Kalix, 37 miles away.

"The thief answered the phone but then just put it away without turning it off," said Overtornea policeman Kurt Paavola.

The police tracked down the taxi and arrested the man late Monday.

If you steal a Mobile phone, why would you even answer it when it rings?

Worse yet, why even steal a mobile phone? They practically give the damned things away nowadays.

Literally. When I got my cell, the rebates attached to it, when I bought a plan with it, equalled the company paying me about $100.

I used to work security at a local community college. I responded to a complaint about a burglary at one of the small buildings that had instructor offices. I get there and have to tell the instructor to stay the hell out until the Deputy gets there. One lady who was already in the office pointed out things that were out of place until the Deputy showed up. One of the phones was moved about a foot across the desk so I advised the Deputy. He dusted for prints and found some fresh ones. I suggested he use *69 to see if they had used it and sure enough they had called home to get help. Deputies arrested 3 guys at their house with all the computers they stole still in their living room.

I saw an episode of Max TV on spike where this guy walks into a convience store, puts a 20 on the counter and asks for change. When the clerk opened the register the guy pulled a gun and demanded all the money from the register, the clerk gave him the $12.33 and then the guy ran off without picking up the 20 from the counter.

Does it even count as a crime if they pull a gun on you and then give you money?

Key point, you had to buy it with a plan. I certainly have no need for nine cell phones.

But there are some really high rebates available, especially if you get a family plan. Here, click on the "See more phones" button.

A good larf.

There are similar stories, I'm sure you've heard them, of such criminals getting themselves stuck in a bank, because they kept trying to push a "pull" door, when an employee triggered the alarm. Arrested within minutes still trying to escape.

Ok this criminal is hilarious.

True story

Worked at EB Games, and whenever there was a new realease, this guy would come in with a buncha new games to trade in for cash. Well it seemed too suspicious(sp) but what can we do? We can't refuse a trade in if we have the dough. He's trading in like 4 copies each time of the same game which is extremeley suspicious(sp). One day I asked him, and he told me he just bought these games and his x-box (one day it was x-box) or ps2(yup that was the second time) broke. Well i told him to come and trade them in(we take in broken systems) and he's like no he's got a friend who can fix em for free. So I was like why trade these in then? He just gets lost for words and I finish the transaction. so he keeps coming in, we get good trade in credits for our district and then one day at another store the guy gets nailed. Turns out the games were from Best Buy and his brother or his siste (or maybe she's his wife idk) worked there and stole em. Man it was hilarious the games we would play with this guy. He could not walk out without losing 5 lbs from sweating.
