The Book of DanielFollow

#1 Dec 28 2005 at 10:56 AM Rating: Decent
I just saw a segment on my local news about the new NBC show The Book of Daniel. Apparently, a lot of religious people are in an uproar around here and complaining to the station.

Here is a quote from one of the complainers:

Quote:
Obviously there`s sin in the world; I don`t know why they have to portray Jesus in the same show with things like that

Isn't that what the bible is? I don't really get what they are complaining about.

KARK is actually considering not airing the show because they have had so many complaints. I just don't get it. Is this show getting complaints like this in other parts of the country?

I don't know about the show, but I'm sure people are equally retarded in other parts of the country.

There complaining about the 42 thousand plots twists present in the storyline, most of which involving every sin known to man.

How much more convoluted could they have made it?

Usually when I don't like a television show I just don't watch it. I try to take that approach to most things in life.

That's just a classic quote.

Has this person not read the New Testament? Jesus was infamous for associating with and ministering to the dregs of society. Politically, that's what got him killed (fate aside).

The station would have to be idiots not to air the show, even if it's a terrible program. All this protest will accomplish is free advertising and more viewers wanting to know what the fuss is about.

A larger audience means better Neilsen ratings. Better ratings means they get more money for a 30 second spot. That's all that matters to the networks. The networks would stage a protest like this if they knew it wouldn't bite them in the *** if they were caught doing it.

After reading the premise of the show. I think it needs all the help it can get. It looks like a stinker.

It looks like a harmless show. I still can't understand why religious people can't take a joke.

So the priest is a pill popper, his wife is a lush, they have a gay son, dead son and sassy daughter.

It's like some lame reality tv show, but with writers.

Who gives a shit, really? It's another religious show. It's going to bomb like every other one before it.

Let me rephrase. It's going to bomb like ever other one before it. . .that was on a major network. ie Touched by an Angel, Joan of Arcadia, etc.

I'll give you Joan of Arcadia, but Touched by an Angel was on for 9 seasons from 1994-2003.

I do have to say I respect them for boycotting something they don't like instead of trying to sue the show creators or the network.

I think some smarmy, slick publicist for the show, stoked these protestors into action for the free publicity it gives the show. The entire show seems be to be based on ripping off "Rescue Me"'s Jesus scenes.

Thank you. God forbid these people get any credit for exercising their freedom of speech by boycotting the show. They aren't bombing hte buildings, slaying their daughters for watching, or beheading innocents.

Not saying that I agree or disagree with the show (personally I think its a lame idea and an insult to Christians), but at least they are reacting in a socially responsible way.

To answer my own question, apparently this show has people upset all over the country.

People do realize that they are giving this show free publicity, right? And that their TV has an off switch, and you can even change the channel? Honestly there are a lot of shows on TV that I don't like and that would probably offend me if I gave them a second thought. Like all reality shows. I just don't watch them.

UGGGG. SUCH HIPOCRACY!

The Bible has some of the sickest imagery ever.

Solomon speaks at length on the female form, in detail, as a tribute to god.

Jesus himself dies in one of the most horrific ways possible. BAttle of Jericho, Abraham and isacc, soddom and gomorrah. the book of revelations. hehe, daniel as well.

Christians can no longer afford to pretend sin doesnt exist. Dammit people its out there, and you insulating yourself from it on television or whatever isnt going to make it go away.

Heres a quote they might enjoy.

Dont pluck a speck out of your neighbors eye when you have a beam in yours.
