The down side of this is that you can no longer tell if a single person rated you down in any given thread; people can now rate individual posts down with relative impunity, for any reason they want. Most people won't do this, of course, but this is basically a free ticket for the 12 year old Miscreant Ninja with a chip on his shoulder.

*shrug* I guess ultimately I don't really care either way.

Get a post count high enough and your score kinda just stays in one spot.

This would be Illia's doing, got a reply in my thread in the WoW forums.
Were you offering this as a bit of additional knowledge, in which case a link would have been nice, or were you just bragging?

You can generally tell when people have rated you down; there's usually he tell-tale flame immediately following your own post. Since people don't have to worry anymore about being caught for maliciously rating down a post, I would imagine that some may tend to be much more free with the rate-downs.

Again though, when I think about it I really dont give a shit. It was just my first reaction to seeing the change.

The people who rate things down that they don't like aren't nearly the problem compared to the people who ***** every time they're rated down (usually justifiably)

A recent example is niobia, who, for every time she was rated down, PMed me that Katie rated her down in thread X (It wasn't Katie, over 90% of the time).

Or somebody on the FFXI forums who posted flame/ratedownwhine threads and then sent whine posts to *every single admin* when they got rated down. duuuuuh.

People who randomly rate down will continue doing so most likely, and ones who rate down for a purpose will continue doing so. It's not like it's at all obvious which is which anyway. At least now people won't get their panties in a bundle when someone rates down their 'spectacularly insightful' posts once.

So Niobia is to blame. Gotcha.

I can go with that. Did you tell her I was a big part of her fan base Dana?

Welp, with the loss of the kharma numbers, there is just no more 'Joi de vivre'. I think it's time we start sacrificing trolls, that should cheer me up. Is that Neph I hear volunteering? Smiley: sly
