Probably done so the FFXIers would have one less thing to whine to the admins about.

Maybe the Powers that Be got tired of people cluttering up the Feedback forums with "OMG I WENT FROM 3.22 TO 3.21 IN THIS THREAD I HAVE A CAMPER OMFGZ0RZ THE KARMA SYSTEM IS SO BROKEN" threads.
I think the point is is to stop people from taking a 4.50 thread and saying it sucks because my omg 1337 thread over here is 4.58, where they are both the same "Excelent" score. Scores are meant to be a balpark number, except of course for the 1.50 cutoff, and as such, people can't ***** about one ranfom prick scholar that hit the awful button one time. They WILL however be able to see if they posted a really sh*tty thread and the actual CATEGORY changes from Good to Decent to Default etc.
Illia if I have interpreted it in any way correctly, then I think it's one of the best measures to eliminating karma ******** that has been taken. Furthermore this could let the karma system return to its original purpose of moderating a group through general themes, rather than numbers. Great Idea.

True. I personaly will check the number by the thread to see if i'll open it. so if I see "zomgwtf WHM nerf?!" and I see a 5.00 next to it i'm going to assume its a happy friday thread.
Exactly, and now you just check the general rating. If it's excelent, you open, if it's Awful, then you say to hell with it. :P
The Karma is still there Reeve, just check your user info. It doens't reduce you to "decent"; you DO still have a number, you just can't see the individual fluctuations of it anymore.
And Totally off topic, but who's in the avatar? Looks like a sad little brooding girl... poor thing.
