WoW: An Asylum Guild StoryFollow

The Exposition

As most of you obviously know we have started an Asylum guild in World of Warcraft. So far it's a blast with Smoggy, Nexa, Moe, Nadenu Smiley: mad, Nades husband, Nexas husband, Jacobsdeception, Neph, Neph's Brother, and the occassional appearance of Totem and Trickybeck as well as many others. Good times and very easy going.

So I log on last night to my Dwarf Hunter. I start chatting with the guild as I gather my quests and make sure my ammo pouch is fully loaded.

The Bet

As myself, Moe, JD and Neph are chatting who logs on but Nadenus Husband. He has a screen name but for the purposes of ease I just call him Yeti cause the guy has more hair than an abominable snowman. So I inquire if he and Nade are enjoying the game and if they plan on staying past the 10 day free trial (thats right free, you should check it out and play with us). We banter back and forth and I speak my disdain for his harlot wife. The man takes the jokes and rolls with them like a pro.

All of a sudden I get a whisper. It is Neph, the guy plays a hawt Female Night Elf (but that is a story for another time). Neph puts for this very simple proposition.

"If you troll him into threatening to kill you then 1g is yours,"

An interesting bet and a hefty sum of cash at our level. I reply that it is on.

The Set Up
My very next move is to send a private tell to the Yeti. I explain the bet, ask him to be the patsy and promise to cut him 50% of the take. He agrees.

We play it slow, the Yeti is a true master. We build up from the playful jabs into more dangerous and hurtful territory. All the while Neph is measuring my progress to me via private whispers. Finally we get to a head and Nades husband says "ENOUGH", Neph is slavering over the bet, all wet in his NE panties, can I get a death threat?

I throw out a vitriolic statement that I can say. True to his part the Yeti plays it like a thespian and threatens my death in the most violent of ways. His death threat is followed in guild chat by Neph saying on simple word.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

A Man of His Word
Me and the Yeti play it out a little longer then let it die, we play it so well that even Moe shows some concern (he is a softy, he really is). Once it is done, I send a tell letting Neph know he can pay up whenever. Neph claims not to have the money, but when pressed and called a welcher he promises to make good and sends 50silver (half a gold) and promises the other soon. He then praises my ability to troll and bows before me.

Not long after get my level, grab the 50s out of the mail box and logout. All in a nights work for bodhisattva.

Smiley: lol I knew I would read about this.

Nad's, Grizzly Adams is a wuss. Tell him he owes me 1g.

You freakin crack me up bhodi, a scam or not, I thought it was hilarious. The 1g was a gift from some random, so no worries. Smiley: tongue

I admit, I was totally suckered by the entire thing. It was a while before I realized that the Yeti was Nads' hubby. I thought is was bloodwolfx and that you were just giving him an Asylum welcome. I am shamed that I was unable to spot the troll right off.

As an aside, it really has been fun leveling up again with all of the people who have joined. I encourage anyone looking for a break from their current characters/guild/server/grind/whatever to come over and check us out. I would also like to invite any of you who don't play the game to come hang out with us. Buying the retail version gets you a free month, and really, what's $50 for a month's worth of entertainment?

Bhodi, gratz on 8k, bish.

The apping process is a bit strenuous. you might have trouble getting in.

Whatchu wanna play?

Seriously, we don't "need" anything, per se. Play what's fun and enjoy your time. It's an escape, after all. An all hunter guild would kick ***. So would an all paladin or all warlock guild. Of course, some people like playing other classes, so we're flexible like that.

What class?

Seriously, no more dwarf hunters.

No, really.

I'm not kidding.

Don't make me slap you.

I took the hunter to 40, got my mount under my own earnings, and tamed Broken-Tooth... so I don't think there is much left for me to re-hash there, though and all hunter guild sounds cool.

I think that I'll try out Mage and pick up enchanting for the guild. Or paladin and do somthing else. I'll think on it.

Anyone looking for info on the guild can go here.

Smoggy, Nexa, Bhodi and myself (and our alts) are currenty the only officers, so look one of us up for an invite. App to the website, and away we go.

Paladin or Druid is the only classes we are missing.

We are going to be in for tough times come endgame with no tanks.

Does hunter function as a tank well in end game with the right pets?

Is a druid more like a healer or a nuker?

Druid! There ya go. I could go for that.

Also, as for hunters, the pet can tank but the hate holding abilities are somewhat limited to say... "Growl" and doing damage. Scorpids and Crabs are suposed to be crazy good for that though. I've stuck to the mage-killer high speed pets for myself though.

To be honest, I thought Druid played as a jack-of-all-trades, but more like buffer in the end.

Sounds like a fun time last night, it must have been after I logged (11pm EST).

/**** hen rant on

Not to be a killjoy though, but if folks are going to do this kind of drama goofiness, please be aware that other guildies online that may be hearing it not know that it's all in fun. We don't want to drive off members thinking we're drama queens.

Again, I know you guys covered covered your bases, but we're gonna have folks in that may not know us well enough or get our various brands of insane humor. Just ease them into it, is all I'm saying.

Just make sure things don't get outta hand - especially if someone might accidently/inadvertently **** off someone's significant other/friend/relative not from the Asylum. I for one do not want to be sleeping on the couch anytime soon.
/**** hen rant off

As for new folks, play what you want - I would say we are short on mages, paladins and druids. But really, we don't really need to worry about particular classes - for those in it for the long haul, the group makeup will work itself out.

The guild has 5 warriors listed - I've really only seen Billian and Roniath online mostly, to be honest. I don't think my wife will be playing her Gnome Warrior, as she's digging her Gnome Mage too much.

So it probably wouldn't hurt to have more warriors as well.

Just finished downloading the latest patch from fileplanet.

I'll install WoW again and update to the latest patch. I should be in for a bit tonight.

Look for Frakkor, the Paladin *shudder*

Cool! Look forward to having you, Frakkor! Hopefully you can bring back the message to the others in Aude Sapere in EQ to come join us in WoW. Need to get Aadyn, Jophiel, and the others over, chop chop!!

This goes for you too, Dana, Allah, Kaolian, et. al! Come join the Asylumites on Shadow Council! We're representin'!

Same goes for Smash, Taco, Chinto, etc. - come join a guild you can't possibly be booted from and you can do whatever you want. Except quit. You have to do this for life, sorry.

Oh and Totem - that ******* has been MIA in game for a while now!

druids are almost more of a healer endgame then healers are. If that makes sense. While priests take the roll of removing curses a lot of the time and healing.
